Dear Heavenly Father,

As we come before You today, we acknowledge Your sovereignty over this universe and our lives. We lift our hearts in gratitude for the wisdom found in Scripture, even in the genealogies and accounts that may seem insignificant. We recall the statement in Genesis 36:35 – "And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Avith." Each name holds a story, some filled with triumph, others with tribulation. Lord, as we reflect on this passage, we seek Your guidance in how we can honor the legacies of those who came before us.

Father, You are the God of eternal purposes. You are aware of every life lived, every choice made, and every ripple effect that spreads through generations. Help us, O God, to understand the weight of our actions. Just as Husham's reign came to an end, reminding us of the brevity of life, may we live with a sense of urgency and purpose, recognizing that our deeds affect not only us but those who will follow. Teach us wisdom and prudence in our decisions.

As Hadad rose to power following Husham’s death, we pray that You would raise leaders among us who are just and righteous, who will reign not for themselves, but for the good of others. We desperately need leaders who are inspired by Your principles, men and women of integrity who will smite the evils of our time just as Hadad struck down Midian. May they be equipped and empowered through Your Spirit to govern with humility and strength.

Lord, in the accounts of rulers and their reigns, let us not forget the name of the city – Avith. In this simple mention, remind us that places carry memories, cultures, and the legacies of those who have shaped them. May our lives represent a city of refuge and support for others. Help us build 'Avith' in our communities, a place marked by love, justice, and peace. Let our names be linked to acts of kindness and our cities resonate with glory because of the way we reflect Your love.

We pray for those in leadership today; local leaders, government officials, and spiritual leaders. Empower them to make decisions that uphold the values of Your Kingdom. May they seek wisdom, not just from the world, but from the counsel of the wise, from scripture and prayer. Fill their hearts and minds with a passion for justice and mercy, as we have seen in Your character throughout history.

Lord, we also bring before You our personal legacy. Help us live in such a way that, when our time comes, we can look back and know we have honored You through our actions, decisions, and relationships. May the imprint we leave be one that brings honor to Your name. Let our legacies be stories of faithfulness and perseverance, of acts that bloom inspiration in others.

Help us to remember those who have led before us. Let us honor their sacrifices and learn from their mistakes. We ask, Lord, to guide us as we navigate our journey, seeking always to point others to You. In a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain, show us how to be steady, steadfast, and unmovable in our dedication to spread Your love.

In closing, dear God, we thank You for the assurance that while names and lives may changing, Your promises remain steadfast. You are the Author of Life, and every chapter reflects Your glory. We lean on You for strength, guidance, and wisdom as we continue on this earthly journey. May we live not just for ourselves, but for the generations to come, spreading Your light and love with each step.
