Heavenly Father,

We come before You today with humble hearts, seeking Your guidance and wisdom as we contemplate the words of Genesis 36:31: “And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel.” Lord, we acknowledge that every word in Your Holy Scriptures is written for our learning, for our growth, and for our understanding of Your divine plan.

Help us to recognize that governance is not merely about authority; it’s about stewardship. The kings in Edom, as highlighted in Your Word, remind us that true leadership must be anchored in accountability and righteousness. Teach us to discern the qualities of a good leader and empower us to support those who lead with integrity and honor. Lord, we know that in Your perfect plan, You have set aside particular times and spaces for Your divine purpose to unfold. Help us to appreciate the importance of timing and history—understanding that every era, including those of earthly kings, serves to teach us in preparing for Your eternal kingdom. We pray that You would instill in us a sense of urgency to spread Your Gospel and love in a world that often seeks control and power without careful consideration of its implications.
