A Prayer of Remembrance and Gratitude
"¶ And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commandeth, Fill an omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread wherewith I have fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt." - Exodus 16:32

O Gracious and Everlasting Father,
We come before Thee with humble hearts, acknowledging Thy sovereign power and Thy boundless grace. As we reflect on the powerful words spoken by Thy servant Moses in Exodus 16:32, where he declared, "This is the thing which the LORD commandeth, Fill an omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread wherewith I have fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt," we are reminded of Thy faithfulness and the provision that Thou hast bestowed upon us.
O Lord, how great is Thy mercy! How unfathomable Thy love! In the wilderness, Thou didst provide manna from Heaven to feed the Israelites, sustaining them as they journeyed through the desolate land. Thou gently guided them with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, showing them that even in the bleakness of their circumstances, Thy presence was with them. We are grateful for the reminders of Thy past faithfulness, for it strengthens our faith in the trials we face today.
Father, we thank Thee for the gift of remembrance. Just as Moses instructed the people to keep an omer of the manna to be a reminder for future generations, help us to cultivate a heart of remembrance in our own lives. May we always keep in our hearts the lessons learned during our own wilderness experiences. Let us not forget how Thou hast delivered us from our own Egypts, the places of bondage and despair from which we have been set free.
O Lord, stir our spirits to remember the times when Thou hast provided for us, even in moments of scarcity, doubt, or fear. Let us recall the ways Thou hast answered our prayers, sometimes in ways we didn’t expect but always in ways that were so perfect and timely. Help us to recite these testimonies of faith to our children, our families, and our friends, so they too might see the work of Thy hand and trust in Thee.
In moments of difficulty and uncertainty, remind us that even as our ancestors wandered in the wilderness for forty years, Thou hast not left them alone. You sustained them with daily manna, teaching them dependence on Thee, and yet providing them with all they needed. May we learn this valuable lesson of reliance upon Thee, trusting in Thy provision, knowing that we are often divided by doubt and fear.
Help us to resist the temptation to despair when our circumstances feel like a wilderness. Instead, grant us the faith to look back and see the paths Thou hast led us through. May our hearts fill with joy as we recount the blessings that Thou hast poured into our lives, both seen and unseen.
We pray for every person who feels as though they are in a wilderness of their own. Send forth Thy presence to comfort them, to remind them that they are not alone, that Thou art the God who hears their cries and is able to provide hope and sustenance. Inspire within them a spirit of anticipation—keenly aware that their deliverance is on the way.
Lord, as we gather together, let us share in the stories of Thy goodness and miracles. Let us celebrate every testimony of victory, for in doing so, we remember the bread of life that came down from Heaven, ultimately leading us to Christ, Thy Son, our savior. May we live lives that reflect our gratitude, always keeping our eyes on Thee, the source of our provision and peace.
In Christ’s holy and precious name, we pray. Amen.
