A Prayer for Divine Favor and Comfort
"Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens." - Ruth 2:13

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You in prayer, my heart is full of gratitude for the profound examples of faith and kindness that are woven throughout the Scriptures. I reflect upon the poignant words of Ruth in Ruth 2:13, where she humbly acknowledges the favor and comfort extended toward her, saying, "Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens."
Lord, just as Ruth expressed her longing for favor, I too ask for Your favor to rest upon me. I acknowledge my own unworthiness and limitations, yet I come boldly to Your throne of grace, seeking compassion and love. Father, I am reminded that Ruth, a Moabite woman, felt out of place among the Israelites, yet she found a warmth of acceptance and favor in Boaz. I pray for similar grace in my life—grace that goes beyond human prejudice or judgments and embraces me for who I am in You.
In a world where we often feel lost or underestimated, help me, O Lord, to remember that Your gaze upon us is not dependent on our past or our lineage, but is rooted in Your infinite love and purpose for each of us. Like Ruth, may I find comfort and friendship in the hearts of those around me, and may I be an instrument of peace to others who feel out of place or marginalized.
Father, remind me of the power of kind words and friendly gestures. Boaz spoke to Ruth with love and kindness, and it transformed her experience from one of emptiness to fullness. Teach me, Lord, to speak words that build others up, and to treat those I encounter with dignity and respect, regardless of their circumstances. May I become a source of comfort for those in distress, a friendly face for those who feel alone, and a beacon of Your love in a hurting world.
I pray for Your favor in my endeavors today, Lord God. As I interact with friends, family, and colleagues, let Your light shine through me. May I find favor in the eyes of those I meet, that I can foster relationships that reflect Your love and grace. Just as Ruth found her place in a new family and community through Boaz’s favor, I ask that You help me cultivate my own connections and support systems in life.
Lord, I confess that sometimes I feel like I don't belong, like I am an outsider. In those moments, help me to see myself through Your eyes. Remind me that in You, I have worth and value, and I am loved beyond measure. May I feel the comfort of Your presence wrapping around me just as Ruth felt the comfort of Boaz's acceptance.
I ask for wisdom to approach others with a heart of humility and openness, just as Ruth did. She did not presume upon her relationship with Boaz; instead, she humbly acknowledged her status and sought his grace. May I always approach others with a spirit of meekness, recognizing that each person carries their own struggles and stories.
As I conclude this prayer, I offer up my desires, my fears, and my hopes to You, believing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. Help me to trust in Your perfect plan for my life and to know that Your favor is resting upon me. Thank You for the comfort You provide and the way You lead me. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray, Amen.
