A Prayer for Faith and Righteousness
"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." - Romans 4:5

Heavenly Father,
I come before You today, with a heart humbled by the profound truth of Your Word, specifically from Romans 4:5, which declares, "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." O Lord, as I meditate on these words, I am struck by the depth of Your grace and the enormity of Your kindness.
Your Word reminds me that my standing before You is not based on my works or my efforts but solely upon my faith in Your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I acknowledge that there is nothing I can do to earn Your love or favor. No act of righteousness, no good deed, no religious practice could ever merit me a place in Your kingdom. Instead, it is through the belief in the One who justifies the ungodly—Jesus Christ—that I am made right before You. I confess that I often struggle with the idea of undeserved grace. My flesh tends to lean towards performance, feeling the pressure to prove my worth before You. But as I reflect upon Romans 4:5, I am reminded that it is not about what I can do, but about what You have done for me.
Lord, help me to let go of the chains of self-reliance that bind me. Assist me in resting fully in the truth that my righteousness is not earned, but is a gift given freely by You through faith. I pray that You would instill within me a deep and abiding belief in Your justifying power. Whenever doubts creep in, reminding me of my failures and shortcomings, may I always turn my heart back to You, knowing that it is not my imperfections that define me, but Your perfect grace.
Father, I also lift to You those who are struggling with their own sense of righteousness. Those burdened by guilt and shame, who feel unworthy of Your love and acceptance. May they come to understand, as I have, the liberating truth of Romans 4:5. Fill their hearts with faith, helping them to see that You justify the ungodly—not because of their works, but because of Your unfailing love. Let them find peace in the knowledge that their faith, however small, is precious in Your sight and is counted for righteousness.
Lord, as I walk through this life, teach me to foster a faith that yields fruit—a faith that compels me to love others as You have loved me. May this faith move me to act in kindness, compassion, and service to those around me, not as a means to earn Your favor, but as a response to the immense grace I have already received. I desire to be a vessel of Your righteousness, reflecting the attributes of Christ in this world.
I ask that You renew my mind daily, transforming my thoughts so that they align with Your truths. Show me how to live in the freedom of faith that You provide, allowing me to abandon self-justification and pride. Each moment that I feel the urge to rely on my own strength, remind me of my utter dependence on You.
As I strive to deepen my relationship with You, may my faith be anchored not in my own abilities, but in Your infinite power and steadfast love. I thank You, Lord, for Your Word that encourages and challenges me. May it continue to be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
In the name of Jesus, I pray.
Amen.
