“Before the Throne and Before the Lamb: A Prayer for the Great Multitude”
"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;" - Revelation 7:9

Holy and Eternal Father, I come before Thee with reverence and awe, lifting my heart to the glorious vision Thou hast shown in Thy Word. I remember the scripture that declares: “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;” and I ask Thee to let this heavenly sight shape my worship, my humility, and my hope.
Lord, when I consider that “a great multitude, which no man could number” will stand in Thy presence, I confess how small my understanding is and how limited my vision can become. Forgive me for the moments when I measure Thy work by what I can see, or when I think in narrow terms about who belongs in Thy family. Open my eyes to the breadth of Thy mercy, and let my heart rejoice that Thy salvation reaches farther than my preferences, my background, or my assumptions. Teach me to honor what Thou dost honor, and to love as Thou hast loved.
Father, I thank Thee that this multitude is “of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues.” Thou art not the God of one corner of the earth only, but the Lord of heaven and earth, gathering worshippers from every place and every language. Purify my heart from prejudice, pride, and suspicion. Make me quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to wrath. Give me a spirit that welcomes the stranger, esteems the overlooked, and honors the image of God in every person. Let my life, my words, and my choices reflect the truth that Thou art calling many—far and near—into one redeemed assembly.
Lord, I ponder that they “stood before the throne, and before the Lamb.” I long for a faith that stands—steadfast, unashamed, and enduring—through trials and temptations. Strengthen me when I am weary; steady me when I am afraid; correct me when I wander. Teach me to live as one who must one day stand before Thy throne. Let me not be casual with sin, nor careless with my time, nor cold in prayer. Help me to stand in reverence before Thee now, that I may stand in joy before Thee then.
And Father, I bless Thee for the purity pictured in those “white robes.” Wash me, cleanse me, and make me holy. I cannot clothe myself in righteousness by my own efforts; I need Thy mercy. Take away every stain of guilt, every hidden compromise, every secret bitterness. Renew my mind, sanctify my desires, and straighten my path. Let my heart be made clean, my conscience tender, and my conduct upright. Make my life a testimony that Thou dost still transform sinners into worshippers.
Lord Jesus Christ, Lamb of God, I honor Thee. I draw near with gratitude, for it is “before the Lamb” that the redeemed stand. Keep me close to Thee. When my heart grows distracted, draw me back. When my love grows faint, kindle it again. When I am tempted to trust in my own strength, teach me to lean upon Thy grace. Let my worship be centered on Thee, and let my obedience be a response of love.
Father, I also behold the palms—“palms in their hands”—and I pray for a spirit of praise and perseverance. Put a song in my mouth even in difficult days. Teach me to worship not only when life is easy, but when faith is costly. Let thanksgiving rise in me as a holy habit, and let my trials refine my devotion rather than reduce it.
O God, make Thy church on earth a living echo of that great multitude in heaven. Unite us in truth and humility. Heal divisions, correct falsehood, and deepen love. Use me as an instrument of peace, a witness of grace, and a servant of Thy kingdom. And as I wait for the day when the redeemed shall stand together “before the throne, and before the Lamb,” keep me faithful, keep me holy, and keep me hopeful.
I ask all these things with confidence in Thy promise and with longing for Thy glory. Amen.

They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb." All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: "Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!" Then one of the elders asked me, "These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?" I answered, "Sir, you know." And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. 'Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them,' nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; 'he will lead them to springs of living water.' 'And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.'" "
