A Prayer of Gratitude for Divine Forgiveness
"Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah." - Psalms 85:2

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, I humbly bow my heart and mind in reverence and awe. Lord, I acknowledge Your boundless grace and mercy, as vividly expressed in Your holy Word. Today, I meditate on the beautiful truth found in Psalm 85:2 from the King James Version: "Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah."
Lord, how profound it is to recognize that in the midst of our struggles and shortcomings, You have graciously chosen to forgive us. You see our iniquities—the transgressions and the moral failures that separate us from Your holy presence—and yet, in Your infinite love, You offer us forgiveness. Thank You for the promise that no sin is too great for You to forgive. Thank You for pouring out Your love upon us, cleansing us from all unrighteousness, and holding us close to Your heart even when we stray.
Oh, gracious Lord, with humble hearts, we lift our voices in gratitude for the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who bore the weight of our sins upon the cross. His life was given so that we might experience the depth of Your forgiveness. Thank You for covering our sins with His precious blood, allowing us to approach Your throne of grace with confidence and boldness.
As I reflect on Your forgiveness, I am reminded of the times I have fallen short, both in action and in thought. I confess, Lord, the iniquities that may seem small but have separated me from Your love. I lay before You my pride, my anger, my jealousy, and all the offenses that I have committed knowingly and unknowingly. I seek Your mercy and help me to grasp the vastness of Your forgiveness. Teach me that no one, including myself, is beyond redemption and that Your love can reach into the deepest corners of my heart.
In Your Word, You call us to forgive as You have forgiven us. Help me, O Lord, to extend that same grace to those around me. May I not be quick to judge or hold onto grudges, as I understand that forgiveness is not just a gift I receive, but a gift I must share. Cleanse my heart of bitterness, resentment, and any desire for revenge. Fill me with compassion and love for others as I remember the countless times You have shown mercy to me.
I also pray for those in my life who may be carrying the weight of sin and regret. Lord, may Your Spirit work in them as it has in me. Bring them to a place of repentance and healing. May Your voice be heard as You whisper words of forgiveness into their souls. Help me to be a vessel of Your grace, to share this message of hope and love with those who are weary and heavy-laden. Lead them to understand that no sin is beyond Your reach and that forgiveness is just one repentant prayer away.
Father, I thank You for the peace that comes with Your forgiveness. I am no longer held captive by my past mistakes; instead, I am renewed and restored in Christ Jesus. Thank You for promising to remember my sins no more (Hebrews 8:12), allowing me to walk in a new identity as a cherished child of God. May I live in the light of this forgiveness, filled with gratitude and joy as I strive to reflect Your love to the world.
As I ponder the truth of Psalm 85:2, let me never forget the beauty of the Selah—the pause to meditate on Your goodness. So, I pause now, in silence, to bask in Your forgiveness,
believing that in You, I am made whole.
In Jesus’ name, I pray.
Amen.
