A Prayer for Divine Protection and Guidance
"Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings." - Psalms 140:4

O Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, I bow my head in humble supplication, recognizing Your might, Your mercy, and Your unwavering love for Your creation. In the beauty of Your holiness and the depths of Your grace, I seek shelter under Your wings, reflecting on the truth of Psalm 140:4: "Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings."
Dear Lord, I acknowledge the reality of the world around me — a world fraught with wickedness and violence, where the hearts of many have turned cold and malicious. I see the darkness that seeks to envelop the hearts and minds of Your people, and I am grateful for the protective armor You provide through Your Word. With a heart yearning for peace and security, I implore You to keep me safe, to shelter me from those who wish to do me harm.
Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked. Their intentions are often veiled with a mask of charm or reason. Yet in their hearts, they plot and scheme against the innocent. I pray that You grant me discernment, Lord, to recognize such individuals and to guard my heart against their deceptions. Help me to find wisdom in every encounter, teaching me to be cautious as serpents yet gentle as doves. Shield me from their snares, those traps laid with malice, designed to ensnare my spirit and lead me away from Your path.
Preserve me from the violent man. Violence, in all its forms, can take many shapes — not only physical but emotional and spiritual. There are those who wield words like weapons, seeking to destroy my spirit, to create havoc and the ripple of distress in my life. Shield me from their rage, Lord. Envelop me in Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Let Your Spirit fill me with courage and strength to face adversaries not by my own might but through the power of Your love.
Lord, I ask that You empower and embolden me as I navigate life’s uncertainties. There are moments when I may feel vulnerable, exposed, and fearful of those who seek to overthrow my goings. May I find solace in the knowledge that You, my God, are my protector and refuge. When the winds of adversity blow fiercely against my spirit, remind me of Your promises. You have declared, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness" (Isaiah 41:10).
O Lord, with faith as my anchor, I declare my trust in You. Even as I face trials and tribulations, I know that You are working behind the scenes for my good. Keep my heart steadfast in hope and my spirit resilient against despair. Help me to lean on Your understanding, growing in faith as I walk this journey.
May your angels encamp around those who fear You (Psalm 34:7), protecting us from all distractions and detractors of our faith. Equip me, dear Lord, with the armor of God that I may be bold in proclaiming Your truth, standing firm against any opposition. Teach me to speak with grace, but also with authority, knowing that I do not stand alone.
In closing, I entrust my life, my path, and my future into Your capable hands. Let not the wicked prevail against me, but let Your will be done in my life, as I rejoice in Your promises. I give You thanks for being my refuge, my strong tower, and my ever-present help. May all glory and honor be given to Your Holy Name.
Amen.
