Heavenly Father,

As I come before You today, I am reminded of the haunting truth expressed in Psalm 140:3, which states, "They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah." O Lord, Your Word reveals the cunning nature of the tongue, and how it can be a weapon when used by those with malicious intent. I stand in reverence and awe before Your majesty, seeking Your guidance, strength, and protection in the face of adversity.

Lord, I acknowledge that the tongue indeed has the power to heal or to harm, to build up or tear down. Help me be wise in the way I use my own words, so they may reflect Your kindness and love. Teach me to tread carefully, for I understand that my words can carry great weight. Help me to speak with grace and truth, and may my speech be a pleasant offering in Your sight.

Father, as I navigate this world, I find solace in the promise of Psalm 140. I call upon You to shield me from those who have sharpened their tongues like a serpent. Deliver me from their deceptive words that drip poison like the fangs of adders concealed beneath their lips. I ask for Your divine protection over my mind and heart, that I may not be swayed by the lies and deceit that may come my way.

I pray for those who harbor such malicious intentions. O Lord, soften their hearts and bring them to a place of repentance. Shine Your light upon their deeds, and may they come to know the beauty of harmony and truth instead of creating discord and chaos. I believe in Your power to transform lives—thereby silencing the tongues that seek only to bring destruction.

In the moments where I feel the weight of their words, Lord, remind me of my identity in You. Remind me that Your voice speaks life, truth, and hope. Let me find refuge in Your presence, knowing that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Help me to remember that, though serpents may strike with their venomous words, my spirit is safeguarded by Your love and grace.

I lift to You those who are suffering from the poison of harsh words—be they gossip, slander, or outright falsehoods. I pray for comfort and healing for their wounded hearts. May they seek You as their refuge, finding strength in Your promises and assurance that they are not alone. With You as their shield, may they rise above the hurt inflicted upon them.

In moments of despair where I may feel overwhelmed, remind me, Lord, to turn my gaze to You. Help me to meditate on Your Word and cling to the truths that promise deliverance and healing. I am grateful that You are my defender, my stronghold, and my sword when battles rage around me. I trust that You will work all things together for my good, even when I may not understand the purpose of the trials.

As I reflect upon the gravity of some words, let me also be a bearer of hope and love to those around me. May I be quick to listen and slow to speak, allowing Your Holy Spirit to guide my interactions. Teach me to be an encouragement, spreading Your love and joy even amidst a world that can be so harsh and bitter.

Thank You, Father, for being my refuge and protection in times of trouble. May Your love envelop me, shielding me from all that would come to harm. I trust in Your divine providence, and rejoice knowing that the victory is already Yours. I pray this in the name of Jesus, my Savior. Amen.
