A Prayer for Discernment and Strength Against Temptation
"Sure, here is Proverbs 7:25-27 in the King James Version: "Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths. For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her. Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death."" - Proverbs 7:25-27

Heavenly Father,
I come before You today with a humble heart, seeking Your wisdom, guidance, and protection. In a world that constantly pulls me in many directions, I recognize the need for clarity and discernment. Your Word in Proverbs 7:25-27 warns me of temptations that can lead me astray. “Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths. For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her. Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.”
Lord, I acknowledge that it is so easy to be led away by distractions or enticing situations. The pursuit of pleasure and acceptance can easily steer my heart toward paths that seem harmless but may lead to destruction. I ask that You remind me that my heart is precious and that I must guard it with all diligence. Give me the strength to resist the allure of temptation and the wisdom to recognize when I am being nudged towards danger.
Father, I pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in moments of weakness. Help me to remain steadfast in Your teachings and to abide in Your Word. When I find myself faced with choices that could lead me away from Your path, I implore You to intervene and pull me back. May Your spirit whisper to me the truth of the consequences of straying from Your path.
I have seen the impact of poor choices in my life and in the lives of those around me. I have witnessed how many, including strong men, have fallen prey to the snares set before us. Lord, I do not want to be one of those who is cast down, who is wounded by the choices that originate from a heart that has declined toward the seductive whispers of temptation. Help me to remember that sin may offer momentary pleasure but that it ultimately leads to pain and death—a truth I grasp only through the lens of Your righteousness.
As I navigate through the relationships I build and the choices I make, surround me with wise counsel. Help me to choose friends who uplift and encourage me in walking the narrow path that leads to You. Let Your love surround me like a shield so that when I encounter temptations, I can stand firm in my faith and not be swayed. Spice my conversations with teachings of respect, integrity, and the importance of honoring You in all that I do.
Lord, as I daily face the battles of the spirit, instill within me an unwavering courage and a thirst for righteousness. May I always bear in mind the weight of the decisions before me, knowing they can lead me closer to You or further away. I lift up my heart and my desires to You, asking that You align them with Your perfect will. Teach me to love what You love and to disdain what You disdain, remembering that the way of the world leads to death but that Your way leads to life.
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the promise of new mercies each day. When I stumble and falter, I ask for Your grace to lift me back to my feet. I desire to walk in the light, to live a life that reflects Your glory, and to speak truth into the darkness that surrounds me. Let my heart be ever inclined toward Your ways, and do not let me stray to paths that lead to destruction.
Guide my steps, guard my heart, and enrich my understanding so that I may live in accordance with Your Word. I ask these things in the mighty name of Jesus, my Savior and Redeemer.
Amen.
