A Prayer for Protection Against Temptation
"To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life." - Proverbs 6:24-26

Heavenly Father,
I come before You today with a heart full of sincerity and a spirit yearning for Your guidance and protection. In the quiet moments of my life, in the chaotic rush of this world, I seek Your wisdom and discernment as I navigate the intricate relationships and desires that pull at my heart.
As Your Word reminds me in Proverbs 6:24-26 (KJV), "To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life." Lord, I acknowledge that temptation surrounds us every day, whispering alluring promises that can lead us astray. I pray that You instill in me a spirit of vigilance, enabling me to recognize the subtle traps that the enemy lays before me.
Father, I ask You to guard my heart from the seductions of this world. Help me to see beyond the surface, to recognize that the beauty touted by the culture is often deceptive and fleeting. May I not be swayed by the superficial allure or flattering words of those who do not seek Your will. Imprint upon my heart the truth that true beauty lies in holiness, purity, and a commitment to righteousness. Teach me to look upon others not with lustful desires but with a pure heart that seeks to uplift and honor them as fellow children of God.
Lord, in moments of weakness, remind me of the consequences that follow when I stray from Your path. Help me to remember that yielding to temptation leads not to fulfillment but to emptiness. Your Word tells us that "for by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread.” Keep me aware, Lord, that the fleeting pleasures of sin are temporary and often leave behind a wake of regret and sorrow. Help me not to barter my precious life for something so transient.
I pray for wisdom in my interactions and relationships, that they may reflect Your love and truth. Strengthen my character, Father, so that I may stand firm against the pressures and temptations that seek to pull me away from You. Should I encounter an evil influence or find myself in a situation that challenges my integrity, may Your Spirit provide me with the strength to walk away, to choose the path that honors You.
Lord, I realize that the allure of temptation can sometimes feel overwhelming. I may feel like the proverbial moth drawn to the flame, and in those moments, I ask that You be my refuge. Surround me with Your presence, and may Your light shine brightly in my life, illuminating the path of righteousness. Draw me closer to You each day, cultivating in me a deeper understanding of Your will and a greater desire to seek after what is right and pure.
Father, I also lift up those around me who may be struggling with their own battles against temptation. Give them courage and clarity to seek You in their moments of trial. Help us to encourage one another, to be a source of strength and truth for each other. Unite us in faith and love, that we may stand together against adversities and point each other back towards Your heart.
In everything, Lord, I place my trust in You, for You are the giver of wisdom and the protector of our souls. May I daily seek Your face, fortify my heart with Your truth, and walk in the light of Your love.
Thank You, Lord, for Your steadfast love and for the promise of guidance through the Holy Spirit. I pray all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, my Savior.
Amen.
