A Prayer for Discernment and Righteousness
"¶ Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men." - Proverbs 4:14

Heavenly Father,
In your sacred presence, we humbly gather, our hearts filled with gratitude and reverence for Your wisdom and guidance. As we come before You today, echoing the timeless words of Proverbs 4:14, "Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men," we acknowledge our dependence on Your divine counsel to walk in righteousness and to guard our hearts against the temptations and snares of this world.
Lord, we recognize the existence of the paths that lead to destruction, fueled by wickedness and evil, paths that are adorned with fleeting pleasures but ultimately lead to sorrow and despair. With a heavy heart, we confess that at times, we have glanced toward those paths, enticed by the allure of sin. We thank You, dear God, for the words of wisdom that open our eyes and hearts to the dangers that beckon. May we have the strength to refuse the invitations to stray.
Father God, grant us the discernment to recognize the subtle ways in which wickedness may enter our lives. Help us to see clearly the choices we face each day and provide us with the wisdom to choose the road that aligns with Your will. As stated in Your Word, let us not only read but internalize the truth found within it, as it serves as a guiding light in times of darkness. Instill in us a strong desire to seek Your ways above our own, teaching us that righteousness brings true peace and fulfillment.
As we navigate our daily lives, we pray for the strength to walk away from the influences of a sinful world. Surround us with Your protection, O Lord, and shield our minds and hearts from the whispers of evil. Help us to remain steadfast in our resolve to forsake the company of the wicked, understanding that their influence can lead us away from the purity and holiness that You desire for each of us. Instill in us an unwavering courage to stand firm against the tides of societal temptation, reminding us that we are called to be light in darkness.
We pray for those who are entangled in the grips of wickedness and evil. Lord, fill our hearts with compassion for those who may not yet understand the destructive path they walk. Give us opportunities to share Your truth with them, so they too may find the light and venture away from the darkness. May we be instruments of Your grace, helping others to discern the call of righteousness over the siren song of wickedness.
Help us, O Lord, to walk in integrity, to pursue good and to shun evil. As You guide our steps, may we become examples of righteousness to those around us. As we embody Your love and truth, let our lives be a testament to the beauty found in following Your commands, proving that Your ways lead indeed to life, joy, and abundance.
Eternal God, we thank You for Your patience with us and for the grace that covers our failures. Let us abide in Your Word daily, renewing our minds to understand Your heart and Your justice. May Your promise of peace sustain us as we refuse to walk in the way of evil and remain steadfast in our commitment to You.
In every moment of choice, Lord, may we hear Your voice prompting us, guiding us away from the destructive pathways. Let our hearts rejoice in the safety and peace we find in following Your truth and choosing righteousness. We bless Your holy name, trusting You in all things, as we walk in the path of life that You have prepared for us.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
