O Lord, Creator of the heavens and the earth, I come before You today in humble adoration, recognizing Your sovereignty and wisdom that extends beyond all understanding. Your words are a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path (Psalm 119:105), and I am grateful for the guidance found within the pages of Your Holy Scriptures. Today, I meditate on the profound truth found in Proverbs 28:23, which states, "He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue."

Lord, what a powerful reminder that we live in a world where the voice of flattery often rings louder than the call for righteous correction. So often, I find myself caught in the web of desire to please others, to be liked, to avoid discomfort or conflict. Forgive me, Lord, for the times I have chosen to flatter rather than to speak truth into the lives of those around me. Help me to remember that true love often speaks truth, even when it is hard to hear. Let me not shy away from being a vessel through which Your truth flows, even if it might sting for a moment.

Heavenly Father, grant me the wisdom to discern when to speak words of open correction and when to offer words of comfort and encouragement. Help me to balance grace with truth, knowing that both are essential components of Your love. Teach me to be bold yet gentle, standing firm in my convictions without compromising the compassion that should mark my interactions with others. I wish to be the kind of friend that does not shy away from hard conversations but approaches them with love, hoping always for the restoration of relationships and the elevation of character.

I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ who have been placed in positions of influence and leadership. May they lead with integrity as they navigate the complexities of offering rebuke when necessary. Give them the courage to speak words that may not be easy but are vital for growth and maturity. Surround them with Your peace as they exercise their responsibility to correct, and may they be filled with the assurance that, in doing so, they are acting in accordance with Your desire for holiness in the lives of those they lead.

Lord, I also lift up those who are on the receiving end of correction. Help them to be receptive when others come to them with loving, truth-filled words. May they not respond defensively or with anger but rather with gratitude for the concern expressed through truthful eyes. Remind them that growth often demands discomfort and that, through humility, they might find favor in Your sight and the sight of those around them.

I ask You, O God, to plant in my heart a deep-seated appreciation for Your correction in my own life. Help me to see that Your rebuke is not condemnation, but rather an expression of love. Your desire for me is to be transformed into the image of Your Son, Jesus Christ, and sometimes it is through the hard truths that I am shaped and refined.

Let this verse from Proverbs serve as a constant reminder that Your favor abounds where truth is communicated, whether by way of rebuke or encouragement. Help me to continually seek favor not through the ease of flattery but through the challenging yet rewarding path of authenticity and honesty.

As I navigate my relationships—be they with family, friends, or brethren—let me carry this scripture in my heart, knowing that my words can either build up or tear down.
