A Prayer for Discernment: Avoiding the Snare of the Wicked
"Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul." - Proverbs 22:25

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, my heart is filled with reverence and awe for Your infinite wisdom and love. You are the Creator of all things, the sovereign ruler over heaven and earth, and the source of all truth and righteousness. In Proverbs 22:25, You forewarn us, "Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul." I acknowledge my need for Your guidance and discernment in a world filled with temptation and deceit.
Lord, I humbly ask for Your divine insight to navigate through the complexities of life. Every day, I encounter a multitude of voices and influences that seek to lead me away from Your path. Help me to be vigilant and wise, always aware that not every way is aligned with Your truth. Strengthen my resolve to resist the allure of the wicked and to seek only what is pleasing in Your sight.
Father, in my daily encounters, I ask for the gift of discernment. Open my eyes to see the hidden agendas and the destructive paths that so easily ensnare the unwary. Give me the wisdom to recognize when I am being drawn into behavior that does not reflect Your love and holiness. Let me not be swayed by the false promises of quick gratification or social acceptance if they lead me away from Your truth. Help me to stand firm in my faith and to remain steadfast in Your Word.
I also pray for those around me, especially for my friends and family. Protect us from the ways of the wicked and from those who would intentionally or unintentionally lead us astray. Surround us with a circle of godly companions who will encourage us to pursue righteousness. Let my relationships be constructive, uplifting, and rooted in Your truth, so that together we may thrive in our walk with You.
Lord, I long for a heart that is fully devoted to You. Cleanse me of any doubt, fear, or habitual sin that might cloud my judgment or weaken my resolve. Grant me the strength to separate myself from those whose ways lead to destruction, regardless of how attractive or popular those ways may seem. I desire to walk in a manner that is worthy of the calling I have received, to hold fast to the teachings of Christ, and to reflect Your glory in all that I do.
As I navigate relationships and pursue my ambitions, may I always filter my decisions through the lens of Your Word. Place a guard over my heart and mind. May I learn daily to be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove. Teach me the importance of prayer and the need to seek Your counsel in every circumstance. When faced with challenges or opportunities that seem good but may lead to my detriment, guide my thoughts and actions to align with Your perfect will.
Help me to be aware of the subtle ways that temptation can creep into my life, Lord. Let me not forget that the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. I do not wish for my soul to fall into a snare due to ignorance or complacency. Alert me, Holy Spirit, when I am straying from Your path. Give me the humility to correct my course and to seek forgiveness when I have wandered into the wrong territory, associating with the wicked and embracing their ways.
In all things, Lord, may I bring glory to Your name and shine brightly as a beacon of hope and truth in a darkened world. Help me to be a testament of Your love and grace, leading others away from snares that ensnare the soul. Thank You for Your unfailing love and guidance as I earnestly seek to live a life that pleases You.
In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray,
Amen.
