A Prayer of Acknowledgment and Dependence on God’s Might
"¶ And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;)" - Numbers 14:13

O Sovereign Lord, our steadfast Refuge and Almighty Deliverer,
We come before You this day, inspired by the profound words of Your servant Moses as recorded in Numbers 14:13. With humility and reverence, we acknowledge Your unmatched power and the wondrous acts Your hand has performed throughout history. You led the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, birthing a nation from the bonds of oppression, and today we stand in awe of that might that brought forth salvation and freedom.
Lord, as we reflect on the journey of Your people, we recognize the richness of their experience—how they were delivered from the clutches of Pharaoh and the weight of their burdens. When hardships escalated, and fear threatened to consume them, Moses turned to You with a solemn reminder of Your power. "Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;)" What a profound statement! A testimony of Your might not only to Your people but also a proclamation to those who oppress! Lord, we seek to embody this kind of faith—one that acknowledges our dependence on You in every moment.
O God, in our own lives, we often find ourselves in the midst of trials and turmoil. We encounter challenges that feel as though they are far beyond our strength to bear. Yet, we are reminded of how You brought Israel through the Red Sea and into the wilderness, guiding them with a cloud by day and fire by night. Similarly, in our lives, we pray that You will lead us; illuminate our path with Your holy light. Help us to remember that our struggles are not merely personal burdens but are opportunities to see Your might work in and through us.
We confess, O Lord, that at times we have doubted Your power and preferred to rely on our own understanding. We often forget that just as You brought up that chosen people from bondage, You too are in the business of liberating us from our spiritual chains. Help us to surrender our battles into the hands of the Almighty One who is able to do exceedingly above all that we ask or think. Just as Moses interceded for Israel, we intercede now for ourselves, our communities, and our world—pleading for Your mercy and grace.
As we face our giants, whether they be sickness, despair, anxiety, or injustice, let us stand firm on the truth of Your Word. Remind us continually that Your might is unwavering and that, when we cast our cares upon You, we tap into a force far greater than our own frailty. Just as the Egyptians would hear of Your glory and might displayed in the lives of the Israelites, let our lives be a testament of Your saving grace to those around us. May we proclaim in boldness the ways in which You have rescued and redeemed us, not for our own glory, but for the exaltation of Your great name.
Lord, we thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit, our comforter and guide. Stir within us a faith that does not waver in the face of doubt, a courage that does not falter amid fear. Instill in us a heart that yearns for Your presence and recognizes that it is by Your strength we can face each day anew.
As we strip away the doubts and cling to the truth that You are ever-present in our struggles, we echo the heart of Moses, acknowledging that what You have done in our lives is not hidden, but a beacon for those watching. Let us live out our testimony of You with grace, humility, and strength, spreading Your love across our lives and the lives of others.
In all these things, Lord, let it be Your mighty name that is glorified forevermore, for You are our Champion, our Lord, and our Deliverer.
Amen.

Numbers 14:13-20 - "But Moses said to the Lord, “Then the Egyptians will hear of it, for by Your strength You brought up this people from their midst, and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that You, O Lord, are in the midst of this people, for You, O Lord, are seen eye to eye, while Your cloud stands over them; and You go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night. Now if You slay this people as one man, then the nations who have heard of Your fame will say, ‘Because the Lord could not bring this people into the land which He promised them by oath, therefore He slaughtered them in the wilderness.’ But now, I pray, let the power of the Lord be great, just as You have declared, ‘The Lord is slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generations.’ Pardon, I pray, the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of Your lovingkindness, just as You also have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.” So the Lord said, “I have pardoned them according to your word."
