A Commission of Faith: A Prayer for Nations

"¶ Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" - Matthew 28:19

"¶ Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" - Matthew 28:{verse.verse_number}

O Sovereign Lord, the God of Heaven and Earth,

We approach Your throne of grace with humble hearts filled with reverence and awe. We thank You for the precious gift of Your Word, which guides us in our journey of faith. Specifically, we come in response to the great commission given by our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19, where He commands us, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."

We acknowledge that this is not simply a suggestion; it is an imperative, a call to action that resonates deeply within our souls. Lord, we confess that we sometimes falter in fulfilling this great command. We get caught up in our busy lives, we become overwhelmed with our own challenges, and we neglect the urgency of the Gospel. Forgive us, O Lord, for such distractions. Help us to refocus our hearts and minds on the task at hand, which is to spread the good news of Your kingdom to all corners of the earth.

In Your infinite wisdom, You have called us to engage with all nations—not just the ones we are comfortable with, but every tribe and tongue, every culture and every people. Lord, we pray for the courage to step outside of our familiarity, to love those who are different than us, and to see every person as valuable in Your sight. Break our hearts for what breaks Yours, and embolden us to reach out to those who have not yet heard the life-transforming message of Jesus Christ.

Father, we ask for Your grace to teach all nations. May our words be filled with Your wisdom and authority as we share the Gospel. Open doors for conversations that lead to transformation. Bring us into divine appointments where we can declare the hope that we have in Christ. Let us not shy away from teaching the truth of Your Word but rather speak it boldly, driven by the love we have for our neighbors and the urgency of their eternal destinies.

We pray for Your anointing as we baptize those who respond to the call of salvation. Baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost is a sacred act that signifies the washing away of sin and the new life found in Christ. As we immerse individuals in water, may they be embraced by the fullness of the Trinity—the love of the Father, the grace of the Son, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. May this act be a public declaration of faith that ignites a passion for discipleship in their lives.

Lord, we’re aware that the task at hand can seem overwhelming. The harvest is plentiful, yet the laborers are few. We beseech You, therefore, to send out more workers into Your harvest fields. May our local churches be filled with passionate disciples who recognize their responsibility and respond with obedient hearts. Inspire us to support and send out missionaries, to provide resources and prayer to those on the frontlines of evangelism. May our hands and feet be willing and ready to go wherever You lead.

God, as we engage with different nations, we recognize the diversity of Your creation. Help us to approach each nation with respect and understanding. Give us the wisdom to navigate cultural sensitivities, and the love to share Your message authentically and respectfully. Let us be vessels of reconciliation and peace, building bridges of understanding rather than walls of division.

Lord, we commit this prayer into Your capable hands, trusting that You are already preparing hearts and minds to receive the message of hope. We stand in faith, ready to respond to Your command. May our lives become a testament to Your greatness, drawing all nations unto You.

We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
