A Prayer for the Glorious Return of the King

"¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:" - Matthew 25:31

"¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:" - Matthew 25:{verse.verse_number}

O Holy and Sovereign God,

As I pause in the stillness of this moment, I reflect upon the profound truth found within Matthew 25:31: "When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory." What a glorious promise this is! What reverence fills my heart as I consider the splendor of Your heavenly kingdom and the majesty of Your authority, Lord Jesus!

I come before You today with gratitude for the hope that Your return brings to all who have chosen to follow You. Your promise of coming again, crowned in glory and majesty, reassures me amidst the uncertainties of this world. Indeed, beneath the weight of this earthly sojourn, I find delight in the anticipation of that magnificent day when You will reveal Yourself to us in all Your glory.

Lord, prepare my heart for Your coming. May I truly understand the depth of Your love; a love that not only saved me on a rugged cross but also promises to return and set all things right. You will judge the nations, and with Your holy angels at Your side, You will render justice and righteousness. Prepare my spirit, dear King, so that I may be found worthy to stand in Your presence. Help me to cast aside the works of darkness and to live each day in the light of Your truth.

As I meditate on Your glorious return, I ask that You would fill me with a passion for souls. The weight of the knowledge that many are yet to know Your love stirs my heart to action. May my life reflect Your light, that others may see and be drawn to You. Give me opportunities to share the good news of the gospel with those around me, so that they too may be ready on that great and terrible day when You come in Your glory. Let not fear grip my heart but let faith carry me forth, knowing that You are with me in every step.

Lord, let me always remember that while I wait for Your return, my actions must align with Your heart. Help me to serve as You served, to love as You loved, and to bless those who are marginalized and in need. As You said in Matthew 25, to each person I meet, may I see not just their face but the reflection of Your image. Let the way I treat them mirror the way I long to treat You. Your compassion and mercy flowed abundantly while You walked this earth; let those same gifts flow through me as I live out each day.

I pray that I may never grow weary in well-doing, even when faced with trials. May my hope always be anchored in You, the King of kings, and may I be filled with joy as I await Your return. When You sit upon that great throne of Your glory, may I not be among those who stand in shame, but may I be welcomed among the faithful, the blessed who respond to You with joyous hearts.

As I ponder the fulfillment of prophecy and the signs wrought throughout the world, ignite within me a fervor to be vigilant, to remain steadfast and faithful, always ready for the hour and the moment none may predict. Keep my heart anchored to You, exquisitely aware that every day brings us a step closer to that wondrous day.

Thank You, Lord, for the promise of Your return. I cling to the assurance that this earthly life is but a moment in contrast to eternity spent in Your presence. May I live each day in light of that truth, ever ready and ever watching for You, my glorious King.

In Your precious name, I pray,

Amen.
