A Prayer for Wisdom and Preparedness

"And five of them were wise, and five were foolish." - Matthew 25:2

"And five of them were wise, and five were foolish." - Matthew 25:{verse.verse_number}

Heavenly Father,

As I come before You, I humbly acknowledge the profound wisdom that resides in Your Word. Today, I bring myself into alignment with the teachings found in Matthew 25:2, where it is written: "And five of them were wise, and five were foolish." Lord, Your parable reminds us of the importance of preparation and discernment. I recognize that in life, we are constantly faced with choices that reflect our values, our faith, and our readiness to fulfill Your purpose.

Lord, grant me the spirit of wisdom that was evident in the five wise virgins. Help me to cultivate a heart that seeks knowledge, understanding, and discernment in all matters. Your Word illuminates the path before us, and I pray that I might be diligent in studying it daily. Let it be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path, guiding my decisions and actions in alignment with Your will.

I pray that You would fill my mind with clarity and my heart with conviction. Teach me to recognize the signs of the times and to act wisely in accordance with Your guidance. May I not be swayed by the distractions of this world but remain steadfast and faithful, ever preparing for Your return. Help me to be aware of the imminent coming of our Lord, so that I might be like the wise virgins—ready and adorned in righteousness, filled with oil, and waiting in expectation.

Lord, I also lift up those who, like the five foolish virgins, may be caught unaware or unprepared. I pray for those who do not yet understand the importance of preparedness in their spiritual journey. Help me be a vessel of Your light and a source of encouragement for them. Use me to share the good news of Christ’s love and to shine a light on the path of wisdom.

As I reflect on the distinction between the wise and the foolish, I ask for Your guidance in my relationships. Lord, let me surround myself with wise counsel and friends who encourage me to pursue wisdom daily. Help me to discern the influences in my life, leading me to those who uplift and spur me on toward love and good deeds. May the people I engage with be characterized by wisdom and love, drawing us all closer to You.

Father, I recognize that wisdom comes from You. James 1:5 reminds us, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." I stand upon this promise, seeking Your wisdom in every aspect of my life. Whether in my career, my family, my studies, or my personal walk with You, guide me to make choices that reflect Your heart. I desire to be known as someone who pursues righteousness and who is wise in their deeds.

Lord, let my heart remain vigilant as I await Your return. Help me to keep my oil lamp lit, ready and filled with Your Spirit. May I not be lulled into complacency or distracted by the noise of this world. Empower me through Your Holy Spirit, that I may remain alert, prepared, and faithful to Your calling.

In moments of uncertainty, remind me of the importance of seeking Your face and waiting for Your direction. I trust in Your sovereign plan for my life, and I place my hope in Your promises. Thank You, dear Father, for the gift of Your Word, and may I live each day in harmony with its teachings.

In the name of Jesus, I pray,

Amen.
