The Prayer of the Faithful Servant
"45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. 47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. 48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; 49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; 50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, 51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." - Matthew 24:45-51

O Heavenly Father,
We come before Your throne of grace, humbled and in awe of Your majesty. As we meditate on the words of our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 24:45-51, we acknowledge the significance of being a faithful and wise servant in Your household. Lord, You have entrusted us with responsibilities, and we seek the wisdom and strength to fulfill them with diligence and integrity.
"Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?"(Matthew 24:45 KJV). Father, we desire to be that servant whom You find doing good and be a steward of the gifts and resources You have provided. Help us to understand that our calling extends beyond mere tasks; it is about nurturing and caring for those You have placed in our lives. May we embody the spirit of service, providing not only physical sustenance but also spiritual encouragement, love, and support to one another.
As we strive to act in accordance with Your will, teach us what it means to be "blessed" as described in verse 46: "Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing." Lord, we yearn for that blessing. May we be actively engaged in doing what You have called us to do. Stir our hearts to remain vigilant and committed to our tasks, even when the road is weary and the trials of life seem overwhelming. Let our actions reflect Your love and our steadfast faith in You, so that when You return, whether in times of joy or hardship, we stand steadfast in our deliveries.
Jesus promises that to the faithful servant, You shall grant even greater responsibility, saying, "Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods" (Matthew 24:47 KJV). What a privilege it is to be trusted with more! Help us, O Lord, to be faithful in the little things, that we might be entrusted with much. May our hearts pursue faithfulness, not for the sake of recognition but to honor You in our lives. May our desire for promotion be directed towards enhancing our ability to serve others within Your kingdom.
Yet, as we reflect on the warnings laid out in verses 48-51, we recognize the dangers that come with complacency: "But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken" (Matthew 24:48-49 KJV). Guard our hearts against such complacency, Lord. Help us to be aware of the temptations and distractions that can lead us astray from our duties. Keep us grounded in Your word and in prayer, so that we may never grow weary in doing good. Give us discernment to recognize the threats of apathy and selfishness in our service. May we encourage one another to remain vigilant and accountable, steering clear from the path of evil and indulgence.
Remind us daily that Your return is imminent, and "The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of" (Matthew 24:50 KJV). Help us to live in expectation of Your coming, to seek holiness and righteousness, and to maintain a posture of readiness and faithfulness in every moment.
Lastly, we acknowledge the grave warning of judgment that follows, where those who have unrepentantly chosen evil shall face dire consequences: "And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth" (Matthew 24:51 KJV). Let these words resonate in our spirits, leading us to a holy fear of You. Keep our hearts pure, our intentions noble, and our actions aligned with Your will.
In Your precious name, we pray, trusting in Your power to transform us into the faithful servants You desire. Amen.

Matthew 24:45-51
Matthew 24:45-51 - "Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, 'My master is staying away a long time,' and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
