A Prayer of Total Devotion

"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." - Matthew 22:37

"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." - Matthew 22:{verse.verse_number}

Heavenly Father,

I come before You today with a heart longing for deeper intimacy and connection with You. I reflect upon the profound commandment given by our Lord Jesus Christ found in Matthew 22:37, where He instructed us to "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." This verse encapsulates the essence of our relationship with You, and I seek to live it out fully in my life.

Oh Lord, as I sit in Your presence, I recognize the weight of these words spoken by my Savior. I ask, dear Heavenly Father, that You help me to love You with every fiber of my being. Allow me to open my heart wide, so it may encompass the love that You poured out for me through the sacrifice of Your Son. As I express my love for You, help me to lay aside all distractions that vie for my attention. Help me to set down the burdens of daily life, the anxieties of tomorrow, and to trust fully in Your grace and provision.

I desire for my heart to be completely aligned with Your will. Holy Spirit, empower me to seek out what truly matters in life—the loving relationship that You desire with me. May my heart be a dwelling place for Your presence, filled with joy and gratitude for all Your blessings. Let me cultivate a heart that is tender, humble, and overflowing with devotion. May I see beyond the surface of life’s challenges and recognize Your hand at work, guiding me in every step.

Lord, as I navigate my days, I confess there are moments when my love for You falters. I can be swayed by emotions, by fleeting joys, and worldly attractions. In these times, remind me of the depth of Your love. Help me to stay anchored in Your truth, and draw my heart back to the awareness of Your abiding presence. Teach me, Father, to put You first in all things, to prioritize my time in prayer and in Your Word above my worries and tasks. May my heart be steadfast, anchored in the knowledge of who You are.

Next, Lord, I turn my thoughts to my soul. This part of my being—the core of my existence—yearns for belonging, for purpose, and for identity. I ask that You fill my soul with Your love so that it may echo throughout my actions and interactions with others. May I find my identity in being Your beloved child, cherished and redeemed. In moments of doubt, remind me of the promises in Scripture, and may my soul rejoice in the hope and assurance found in You.

Help me to nurture my spirit through worship, praise, and fellowship with other believers. May I experience the richness of community and spiritual growth, lifting one another up, and sharing the love we have for You. Let my soul be a reflection of Your grace, overflowing into the lives of those around me. Teach me to serve and love others in ways that embody Your heart.

Lastly, I turn my mind to You, Lord, knowing that loving You with my mind means more than acknowledging You; it means engaging in a continuous pursuit of knowledge about You. Awaken my thirst for understanding Your ways and studying Your Word. Illuminate my mind with wisdom and revelation so that I may engage in thoughtful prayer and contemplation, making my way through the complexities of life while holding onto Your truth. May my thoughts align with Your thoughts so that they bear witness to Your nature.

I humbly ask, Lord, for the strength to love You fully. May my heart, soul, and mind be consumed by the love You desire me to have for You. Grant me the fervor to support this love with my actions, lives, and relationships, allowing it to flow from my very being.

In the precious name of Jesus, I pray.

Amen.
