A Prayer for Childlike Faith and Humility
"And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 18:3-4

Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with hearts overflowing with gratitude and devotion, acknowledging You as our Creator, our Sustainer, and our loving Redeemer. Your Word teaches us many truths, and today we reflect deeply on the precious words found in Matthew 18:3-4: "Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
Oh Lord, help us to fully grasp the profound wisdom embedded in this scripture. We recognize the importance of being converted—of turning away from our earthly ways and embracing the transformation that comes from knowing You. In our quest for knowledge, power, and status, we often lose sight of the simple, trusting faith that You desire from us. We pray for the strength and determination to bear the fruits of this conversion, humbly accepting Your grace and unfailing mercy in our lives.
Father, teach us how to become as little children. We remember how children possess an unparalleled ability to trust, to believe without reservation, and to approach the world with pure hearts. They are curious, eager to learn, and filled with an innocent sense of wonder at Your creation. May we cultivate these qualities in our own hearts. May we shed the burdens of pride, skepticism, and self-reliance that so often cloud our faith. Help us, Lord, to trust in Your promises wholeheartedly, just as a child trusts in their parents’ love and protection.
As we seek to emulate childlike faith, we ask that You soften our hearts. Revive and renew our spirits, allowing us to embrace humility in all facets of our lives. The world often defines greatness through achievements, wealth, and accolades, but You call us to find greatness in being humble, in serving others, and in loving unconditionally. Let us slow down, Lord, and appreciate the beauty of humility. Remind us that every act of service, no matter how small, is vital in Your Kingdom. Help us to see ourselves as vessels of Your love, extending kindness and compassion to everyone we meet.
We confess, Lord, that at times we can become steeped in pride and self-importance, believing that our accomplishments define our worth. We ask You, Father, to gently correct our view of greatness. Teach us to seek first the Kingdom of Heaven and to realize that it is the meek, the lowly, and the humble who will inherit it. Help us to recognize that in Your Kingdom, our value is not determined by our status but by our willingness to embody the characteristics of Your Son, Jesus Christ.
In our daily interactions, remind us to approach others with the openness and acceptance of a child. Help us to love as You love—with a love that accepts imperfections and rejoices in diversity. May we be quick to forgive and slow to judge, offering the same grace we have received freely from You.
Holy Spirit, we invite You to work within us, guiding us in moments of uncertainty or conflict. Remind us to pause and recalibrate our hearts toward humility. In an age that often glorifies competitiveness and assertiveness, may we be shining examples of childlike faith, embodying the peace and assurance that come from relying on You.
As we reflect on this powerful verse, we are reminded of Your call to enter into Your Kingdom with the innocence and purity of heart akin to that of a child. May we forever pursue this worthy calling, growing ever closer to You. And when our journey here on earth is complete, may we stand before You, proud not of our own achievements, but of how we loved, served, and humbled ourselves in Your name.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
