A Prayer for Deliverance from the Depths of the Heart
"Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:" - Mark 7:22

Heavenly Father,
In the mighty name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, I come before You today with a heart yearning for Your wisdom and grace. I humble myself in Your presence, recognizing that You alone see the depths of the heart and the hidden intentions that dwell within. Thank You for Your loving kindness and mercy that draws us near to You even when we stray.
I reflect upon Your word found in Mark 7:22, which speaks to the uncleanliness that emerges from the heart: "Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness." Lord, these words weigh heavily upon me, and I feel the urgency to seek You and ask for purification. Each of these transgressions reveals the dark corners of our hearts, where sin breeds and creates a barrier between us and Your divine love.
First, I come before You about theft, both in the physical realm and in the spiritual. Forgive us for taking what is not ours, whether it be possessions, time, or glory. Help us to recognize the value of integrity and to honor the gifts entrusted to us. Teach us instead to be generous stewards and to recognize that all good things come from You. Lord, break any stronghold of covetousness that might rise up within, leading us to desire more than what we need or to be envious of others’ blessings.
I turn my heart towards wickedness, knowing that it can manifest in my actions and thoughts. Father, cleanse me from any vile desires and grant me the discernment to see the difference between right and wrong. I pray for the strength to resist temptation and to seek righteousness. May Your Holy Spirit guide my every step, reminding me to walk in the light of Your truth.
As I reflect upon deceit, I recognize it can creep in subtly; sometimes I deceive myself into thinking I am better than I am. I confess that there are moments when I have misled others, either by silence or by words. Teach me to be honest and transparent in my dealings with others. Fill my mouth with truth that reflects Your nature.
Concerning lasciviousness, I acknowledge the pull of a world that often celebrates immorality. Lord, guard my heart against the allure of lustful desires and help me uphold the sanctity of relationships as You intended. Purify my thoughts, that I may honor You with my body and my spirit.
An evil eye, Father, is a dangerous thing; it breeds contempt and jealousy. Protect me from harboring a judgmental spirit towards others. Instead, instill in me a heart of compassion and understanding. Help me to see others as You see them – deserving of love and grace.
I come now to blasphemy, asking for Your forgiveness for any thoughts that have undermined Your holiness. May my words always uplift rather than tear down, and may I honor You in speech and action. Help me to stand boldly for You and to reflect Your attributes to the world around me.
Pride, Lord, is a trap I do not wish to fall into. Deliver me from the temptation to elevate myself above others or even over You. Teach me humility and the beauty of serving others to glorify Your name. Let me be a vessel of Your love, recognizing that all I am and have comes from You.
Foolishness is seen in the disregard for wisdom. Help me to seek a sound mind, to desire Your wisdom above my own understanding. As the world spins in chaos, may I plant myself firmly in Your truth and let that guide my decisions.
Lord, I ask for deliverance from these darkened corners of my heart. I pray for healing, restoration, and a renewed spirit within me. May Your light shine within me so brightly that the shadows of sin are dispelled. Empower me to live in a way that does justice to Your name, bringing glory to You in all I say and do.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
