Empowered to Preach: A Prayer for Boldness and Belief
"Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”" - Mark 16:14-18

Heavenly Father,
We come before You in humble adoration, acknowledging Your greatness and the power of Your resurrection. We thank You for the incredible gift of Your Word and the promise that You have given us through the scriptures, particularly in the Gospel of Mark 16:14-18. As we meditate on these powerful verses, we ask for Your Spirit to guide us and transform our hearts.
Lord, we remember how Your Son, Jesus, appeared to the eleven disciples as they sat at the table. In that moment, He rebuked their unbelief and hardened hearts. Father, we confess our own struggles with faith. There are times when doubt creeps into our minds, causing us to question Your goodness and Your promises. Forgive us for these moments, Lord. Help us to lay aside our unbelief and embrace the truth of who You are.
As Jesus reminded His followers to believe those who had seen Him risen, grant us the faith to believe too. Help us to recognize the testimonies around us and the miracles that still happen today. May we be inspired by the accounts of those who have encountered You, Lord, and may our hearts be open to the evidence of Your presence and power in our lives.
Empower us, Lord, to heed the command given by Jesus: "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." Instill in us a deep yearning to share Your love and truth with those around us. May we not be silent witnesses, but bold messengers of the Good News. Ignite our hearts with passion, so that we may proclaim Your gospel with courage and clarity.
Father, remind us that we are called to share this message of salvation. Help us to see every encounter as an opportunity to spread Your word. Whether at work, at school, or within our households, let our lives reflect the hope and joy that comes from knowing You. Stir within us an urgency to reach out to the lost and to those who are seeking, so that they may receive the gift of salvation through faith in Your Son, Jesus Christ.
We are reminded that "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned." Lord, we pray for those who do not yet know You. May our witness draw them closer to You. Help us to be instruments of Your peace, shining Your light in the darkness, so that others may see Your truth and turn to You in faith.
As we step into the calling to preach Your gospel, You have promised that signs will follow those who believe: casting out demons, speaking in new tongues, taking up serpents, and the assurance that whatever deadly thing they drink shall not harm them, as well as healing the sick. We hold on to these promises, knowing that they demonstrate the authority we have in Christ Jesus. May we not walk in fear or uncertainty, but in bold faith, knowing that You, Lord, are with us every step of the way.
Help us to exercise our faith actively. When we encounter obstacles, give us the wisdom and strength to overcome them. May we lay hands on the sick and trust in Your healing power, believing fully that recovery is possible through faith.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You continually fill us with Your Holy Spirit, guiding us to be effective witnesses in the world. May our lives be a testament to Your grace and power. Help us to be instruments of Your will, filled with love and compassion, to lead others to You.
In Your precious name, we pray,
Amen.
