A Prayer of Total Devotion to God
"And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment." - Mark 12:30

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You this day, I stand in awe of Your goodness, grace, and love. I am reminded of what Your Word tells us in Mark 12:30, where You command us to love You with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength. This profound directive is not just a task but a calling that envelops the entirety of our being in a relationship with You. Lord, I humbly seek to honor this commandment in my life, and I desire to express my love for You fully and without reservation.
First, Father, I bring before You my heart. You know the depths of my feelings, my desires, and my longings. I pray that my heart may be continuously attuned to Your presence. Cleanse it from any fragments of doubt or fear that may linger there. Help me to remove distractions that veil my affection for You, and infuse my heart with a relentless fervor to pursue You above all else. Enable me to feel and express the love You have for me, which encourages me to mirror that same love back to You and to others.
Next, I lift up my soul to You. Father, my soul is the essence of who I am—my emotions, my personality, and my very being. As I breathe in Your truth and reflect on Your teachings, I ask for a radical transformation within. Strengthen my soul to rise above earthly temptations and trials. Just as the psalmist sang, may my soul find its rest and fulfillment only in You. Let my spirit resonate with joy and zeal as I walk in Your ways, illuminating the path of righteousness.
I then turn to my mind—my thoughts, contemplations, and understanding. These are often the battlegrounds where doubt and fear try to invade my belief and trust in You. Father, I pray that You would guard my mind from the lies of the enemy and provide clarity in moments of confusion. Fill my thoughts with Your wisdom and understanding, enabling me to renew my mind so that I may discern Your will. I long for my mind to be a sanctuary of praise where I reflect on Your goodness and meditate on Your Word, for Your Word is my lamp and light.
Lastly, I direct my petitions towards my strength. Lord, I recognize that my strength is not solely my own; it is a gift from You. Teach me how to utilize every ounce of strength—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—to serve You. Help me to engage in acts of goodness, kindness, and love, pouring out this strength in service to Your creation. May I strive to glorify You with my abilities, talents, and resources, whether in moments of great triumph or in trials that test my endurance.
In viewing this commandment as the first and foremost above all else, I realize that true love for You encompasses an unwavering and holistic devotion—heartfelt, soulful, mindful, and powerful. Empower me to embody this totality of love every day. May my actions and decisions be marked by my commitment to love You entirely and to cherish our relationship above all worldly attachments.
I thank You for the gift of Your presence in my life, for it is through this connection that I have the strength to face whatever challenges come my way. I surrender my heart, soul, mind, and strength to You, that I may fulfill Your greatest commandment and experience the fullness of joy that comes from loving You with every fiber of my being.
In Jesus’ name, I pray.
Amen.
