Heavenly Father,

In the quiet of this moment, I come before You with a heart full of gratitude and reflection, guided by the words from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 21, verse 1: "And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.” Lord, I desire to learn from this scripture, not just in understanding but in practice, as I look to emulate the heart of giving that You have called all Your children to embrace.

Father, You are the ultimate giver. Every good and perfect gift comes from You, and for that, I stand in awe. Thank You for the blessings You have poured into my life — life itself, the love of family, the community I am part of, and the various provisions that sustain me. I recognize that all that I have is a result of Your generosity, and in this realization, I am reminded of my duty to reflect such generosity in my own life.

As I read how rich men were casting their gifts into the treasury, I find my mind wandering to the intentions behind those gifts. Lord, I pray that You help me to assess my own heart as I give. May I never give from a place of pride or a desire for recognition, but rather from a pure heart that seeks to honor You and uplift those around me. Teach me to consider not just the act of giving, but the spirit in which I give.

Help me to understand that true value lies not in the amount given but in the sacrifice made out of love. In Your teachings, it’s the widow who gave only two mites who captivated Your attention, and who exemplified the essence of true generosity.

I pray that You cultivate in me a spirit of humility, that I might give freely to those in need, understanding that every act of generosity is a reflection of Your love. Bestow upon me compassion for the less fortunate, wisdom for how to best serve those around me, and courage to act on those inclinations. Let my donations, my time, and my service be untainted by thoughts of men’s applause but be genuinely aimed at glorifying You.

Heavenly Father, as I witness the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury, I pray for those who are burdened under financial distress. May Your provision meet their needs. I intercede for all those in our communities who face hardships, who do not know where their next meal will come from, or how to provide for their families. Use me as a vessel of Your love and provision to bring comfort to the weary.

I ask that You ignite in me a passion for charity, a desire to create opportunities for those in need, whether through donations or acts of service. Help me to be alert to the needs around me and to respond not only with a desire to give but also with the willingness to engage personally in the lives of those we serve. Inspire me to give of myself—my time, my resources, and my love—because it is in selfless giving that I reflect Your heart.

Father, grant us the wisdom to steward well the blessings we have received. Help us find balance in sharing our resources responsibly and joyfully. Let my life be an illustration of Your love, a testament to the faith that motivates us to give generously and serve humbly. May we not forget that every gift we offer, no matter how small, is seen by You and contributes to Your kingdom.

In closing, I thank You, Lord, for this reminder of what it means to be generous in spirit and action. Help me to emulate the love of Christ in my giving, reflecting a heart that is attuned to Your will.
