A Prayer for Faithfulness and Stewardship
"And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:" - Luke 19:20

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with hearts filled with gratitude and reverence for Your guidance and grace bestowed upon us. As we reflect on Your Word, particularly the verse from Luke 19:20, "And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin," we acknowledge the lessons of stewardship and faithfulness that resonate deeply within our souls.
Lord, we recognize that You have entrusted us with various gifts, talents, and blessings. Just as the nobleman in this parable entrusted his servants with pounds, You have bestowed upon us responsibilities that reflect Your grace. We ask that You open our eyes to the understanding of what it means to be good stewards of what You have given us.
Father, forgive us for the times we have wrapped our blessings in the napkin of fear, doubt, or inaction. There are moments when we have chosen to bury our abilities, our time, and our resources rather than investing them in ways that honor You and advance Your Kingdom. Help us to recognize the weight of this responsibility, understanding that to whom much is given, much will be required.
Lord, instill in us a courageous spirit; grant us the boldness to step forth with faith, reinvesting the gifts we possess into the lives of others. May our lives reflect the heart of a servant who eagerly seeks to please You and bear fruit in Your name. As we undertake these steps, we pray for the discernment to see opportunities where we can serve—be it through financial generosity, encouragement to others, or sharing our spiritual insights.
As we reflect on the servant who kept his pound in a napkin, we invite Your Spirit to reveal areas of our lives where we may be holding back, afraid to step into our calling. Are we waiting for a perfect moment that may never come, thinking we are not equipped enough to take action? Please forgive our procrastination and attend to our hesitations. Remind us that it is not our own strength that we rely upon, but rather the power that comes from You, our source of strength and wisdom.
Guide us, Lord, to change our mindsets and to embrace the challenges that come with stewardship. Teach us how to manage our time wisely, spending moments in prayer and study, expanding our relationship with You, and seeking Your will above our own. Show us how to deploy our resources with love, humility, and a heart that cares for the needs of others.
Lord, let us not be motivated by the fear of loss or the anxiety of failure, for You are faithful. You see our efforts and our intentions. May we find comfort in the knowledge that our labor will not be in vain when we act in accordance with Your Will. Help us to remember that even small actions of faithfulness magnify Your greatness, as every pound invested for Your glory can produce gains beyond our comprehension.
As we move forward in our daily lives, let us remain conscious of the calling to use our gifts for the enrichment of others and the glorification of Your name. Surround us with encouragement from fellow believers, so we may spur one another on to fulfill our respective callings.
Finally, I pray that when we stand before You, we may joyfully present the fruits of our labor—transformed lives, uplifted spirits, and hearts ignited with love and faith. May we hear those cherished words, "Well done, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities."
In Jesus’s name, we humbly pray,
Amen.

And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant.
