A Humble Heart: A Prayer for the Wealthy and Their Souls
"For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." - Luke 18:25

Heavenly Father,
In the stillness of this moment, as I bow before Your majesty, I come to You with a heart heavy with the weight of the words of our Lord Jesus Christ. For it is written in the Book of Luke, chapter 18, verse 25, "For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." Lord, this profound statement echoes in the chambers of my soul, prompting me to seek understanding and grace for all those who find themselves encumbered by the riches of this world.
Oh Lord, You are the source of all wealth, and everything we possess is a blessing from Your generous Hand. I acknowledge that You have endowed many with material things—abundance that can shelter, feed, and bless others. Yet, I recognize the danger that comes with wealth; it can easily lead to a heart that is proud and self-reliant instead of humble and dependent on You. I pray for those who are wealthy, that they may find the balance between enjoying their blessings and remembering their need for You.
Father, as we ponder the metaphor of a camel trying to pass through the eye of a needle, help us to see the impossibility of this situation without Your divine intervention. In a world that often equates wealth with success and favor, may we not lose sight of what it truly means to be rich in spirit. Teach us, Lord, to be stewardly with our possessions, to open our hands freely, and to extend our hearts generously to those in need. Remove the blinders from the eyes of the rich, that they might see the truth of their situation, and recognize that it is not their wealth but their faith that secures their place in Your kingdom.
Gracious God, I pray that those who are rich may encounter Your wisdom and understanding. Help them to navigate the temptations that wealth brings—the temptation to rely solely on their own strength and resources, to find security in their riches, and to forget the responsibilities that come alongside their gifts. Instill in them a desire to surrender their lives and their wealth to You, for You call us to be rich in good deeds, ready to share and willing to give. May they see their prosperity as an opportunity to bless others rather than a reason to stand apart.
Father, when wealth becomes an idol, remind us that it does not satisfy the soul. It is fleeting and can lead us astray if we are not careful. Teach us to seek first Your kingdom, prioritizing our relationship with You above all else. For in You, we find our true richness—a wealth that cannot be measured by earthly standards. Help us to embrace humility as we walk this path, always mindful of the eternal perspective we are called to have.
Lord, I also lift up those who may be struggling with envy or bitterness towards the affluent. Help us to understand that every good and perfect gift comes from You, and it is not our position to judge another’s fortune. Instead, let us celebrate the blessings You pour out on others, growing in love and unity as we support one another in our journeys of faith.
May the rich—whether in possessions or the spirit—come to understand the depth of Your love and the fullness of life that is found in You alone. Let their eyes be opened to the truth that all we have is Yours, and our lives are entrusted to us for a season, with the purpose of glorifying You.
In the powerful name of Jesus, the One who calls all to Himself, from the least to the greatest, I pray.
Amen.
