A Prayer of Humility and Service
"So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do." - Luke 17:10

Heavenly Father,
With a heart full of reverence and gratitude, I come before You today, reflecting on the words of our Lord as recorded in Luke 17:10. "So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do." Lord, I am aware that service to You is not merely an obligation, but a privilege. Each commandment You have given is a guide to living righteously in Your sight, and it is through obedience that I find my true purpose.
As I contemplate what it means to be an unprofitable servant, I ask that You help me understand the depth of this calling. Though I strive to fulfill Your commands, may I always remember that even in my best efforts, I am but a vessel meant to do Your Will. Teach me humility, Lord, for every act of service I undertake is not for personal gain or recognition, but instead should stem from a heart desiring to honor You above all else. Let me not seek applause from men, but rather may I find joy in fulfilling my duties, finding satisfaction in knowing that I am living according to Your will.
So often, Father, I am tempted to believe that the tasks I perform define my worth. When I look around and see the talents and gifts others possess, it is easy to feel small and insignificant. Yet, I am reminded that You do not measure success by worldly standards. Help me resist the lure of comparison and instead focus on the unique purpose You have for my life. Each act of service, each small task, contributes to the greater tapestry of Your divine plan. May I find peace in being faithfully obedient in what You have called me to do.
Lord, I pray that as I carry out my responsibilities, I do so with a heart of gratitude. In moments of weariness, grant me strength. In times of uncertainty, remind me of Your promises. Help me to see that every chore and every act of kindness is an opportunity to reflect Your love to those around me. As I approach each day, may my mindset be rooted in understanding that the work I do is ultimately for Your glory.
Teach me to serve without expectation. Let me freely give my time, energy, and resources, recognizing that everything I have is a gift from You. Your Word encourages me to treat others as I wish to be treated. In doing so, may I embody the spirit of service, impacting lives not for recognition but to further Your Kingdom. May my life be a living testimony of love, humility, and faith that inspires others to seek You.
In moments of pride, remind me of my position as Your servant. Help me say with sincerity, "We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do." Every good deed I undertake does not elevate me, but rather it humbles me to realize how so much has been granted to me, and that it is only right that I give back out of love and obedience.
Father, I also pray for other servants in Your Kingdom. Strengthen them in their journeys and encourage them in moments of doubt. Let us build each other up as we work together in unity for the sake of Your gospel. Bound by our servitude, may we shine together as a light in this world, drawing others to You.
In all things, may my commitment to servitude become a true reflection of my love for You. I trust in Your unfailing guidance and grace as I navigate the path You have laid before me. Thank You for the opportunity to serve; let my heart always find gladness in doing so.
In the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, I pray,
Amen.
