A Prayer of Trust and Assurance in God's Provision

"And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." - Luke 12:22-34

Heavenly Father,

As I come before You today, I am filled with awe at Your never-ending love and provision. I thank You for the wisdom found in Your Word, particularly in the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ in Luke 12:22-34. You tell us not to take thought for our life nor worry about what we shall eat or what we shall wear, acknowledging that life is more than meat and the body more than raiment. In this moment, I lay before You my anxieties and concerns, trusting that You will breathe peace into them.

Lord, help me to consider the ravens. They neither sow nor reap, yet You feed them. What a testament to Your faithfulness and care! I often find myself burdened with worries about my sustenance, questioning how my needs will be met. Remind me that I am worth far more than the fowls of the air. Your Word assures me that I am created in Your image, deeply loved and valued. When I face uncertainties, may I remember Your goodness, and may doubts fade away as I place my trust in You, the Creator of all.

You ask us, "Which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?" Oh, Lord, how often I try to control the uncontrollable! Teach me to surrender my human desire to orchestrate my life’s details. Show me that worrying adds nothing of value to my life's journey. Instead, may I focus on the gifts You have generously poured out upon me, recognizing that even in the smallest of blessings, You show Your faithful provision.

The beauty of the lilies captivates my heart, reminding me of Your splendid creation. You declare that even Solomon, in all his grandeur, was not arrayed like one of these. I often get caught in the cycle of wanting more – more comfort, more security, more recognition. Yet, like the lilies, I want to trust that You will clothe me in grace, mercy, and strength. Help me, dear Lord, not to toil excessively in pursuit of material gains, but to find contentment in Your exquisite designs and provisions.

As I meditate on Your assurance that You know my needs, I am reminded of the significance of seeking Your kingdom above all else. Help my heart to desire You above the desires of this world; teach me to keep my eyes fixed on You. Strengthen my faith and let my soul find rest in the promise that all these things shall be added unto me. May your Spirit guide me in seeking Your kingdom and righteousness, away from the distractions that lead me astray.

You call us, Your little flock, not to fear. You delight in giving us the kingdom. Lord, fill me with this truth. In a world where fear and worry creep in, help me to live confidently, knowing that it is Your good pleasure to bless Your children. May I find joy in the richness of Your grace and provision, and may my heart be turned toward generosity, as You prompt me to share what I have with those in need.

Help me to provide myself with treasures in heaven, where no thief can approach and no moth corrupts. Teach me that true treasure is found not in earthly possessions but in relationships, acts of kindness, and love shown to others. Let my heart be anchored where my true treasure lies – in Your Word, Your love, and the community of believers around me.

In all these things, Lord, fill me with faith where I am hesitant. Fill my heart with peace where I am anxious. Transform my worries into prayers, and my doubts into praises. In Jesus' name, I pray.

Amen.

Luke 12:22-34 - "And He said to His disciples, “For this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds! And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life's span? If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.

But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You men of little faith! And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying. For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things. But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you.

Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves money belts which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
