A Prayer for Provision and Strength in the Pursuit of Righteousness

"And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian." - Judges 8:5

"And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian." - Judges 8:{verse.verse_number}

O Gracious and Merciful God,

As I come before You today, I am reminded of the words spoken by Gideon in Judges 8:5, where he beseeched the men of Succoth for sustenance for his weary men, proclaiming, "Give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian." Lord, I, too, am in pursuit—not of earthly kings or battles, but of righteousness, peace, and the divine purpose You have set before me. I seek to fulfill the calling upon my life, to fight against the adversaries that come against my spirit, and to pursue the good and noble deeds that reflect Your glory.

Heavenly Father, I first want to thank You for the strength and courage You have instilled within me. I recognize that, as Your child, I am a warrior in Your mighty army. Like Gideon, I find myself leading a charge into the unknown, often surrounded by weariness, uncertainty, and fatigue. In my pursuit, there are times when I feel weak and faint, when the challenges of life weigh heavily on my heart and mind.

Lord, I pray that You grant me the loaves of bread that nourish my spirit and restore my strength. Provide me with the sustenance I need—both physically and spiritually—to carry on this journey. Fill me with the Holy Spirit, who is my Comforter and Guide. May Your Word be the bread of life to my soul, providing me with wisdom, hope, and encouragement as I face the storms around me.

In my pursuit, I am not only seeking victory over my foes but also looking to bring others along this journey of faith. Gideon’s call to the men of Succoth was not merely for himself but for all those who followed him. Lord, inspire me to be a leader who seeks the wellbeing of others, who encourages my brothers and sisters in Christ to persevere in their own pursuits. May I always extend the hand of compassion and support to those who are weary, just as I seek that support in my times of need.

Help me recognize those times when I must turn to my community for assistance, as Gideon did. Allow me to be humble enough to ask for help and to gather around me those who share the same vision and mission. May we rally together in unity and purpose, for You tell us in Your Word that a cord of three strands is not easily broken.

As I pursue the challenges before me, remind me, Lord, that I am not wrestling against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces that seek to derail my journey. Equip me with the full armor of God, that I may stand firm against the attacks of the enemy. Let my prayers be fervent and my faith unwavering; may I always remember the example of Gideon, who did not falter even in the face of overwhelming odds.

I also pray for the spirit of generosity to thrive in my heart, that I may not only receive but also give freely, just as I seek and pursue what is good and right. Lord, let me be a vessel of Your love and provision for others, to share my loaves of bread, both physically and spiritually, with those who are faint. Teach me to see the needs of those around me, to recognize the cries for help and the silent struggles endured in solitude.

In all I do, may my heart be aligned with Your will, O Lord. Help me stay on the path You have laid out for me and to remain diligent in my quest for righteousness. May I always seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, trusting that all my needs shall be met according to Your glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

In Jesus' name, I pray,

Amen.
