A Prayer for Deliverance and Sustenance in Times of Dryness
"¶ And he was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?" - Judges 15:18

Heavenly Father, the Creator of heaven and earth, the Almighty God sitting on Your throne of grace, I bow before You with a humble heart today. I come to You addressing my thirst, a thirst that extends beyond mere physical need; it is a thirst for Your presence, for Your Spirit, and for the living water that only You can provide. In Judges 15:18, we find the plea of Your servant Samson, who, in his moment of great victory, faced the stark reality of thirst: "And he was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?"
Lord, just as Samson called out to You in his dire straits, I too reach out for You today. I acknowledge the great deliverance You have worked in my own life, for where would I be without Your guiding hand? You have been my deliverer, freeing me from the snares of sin and the burdens of this world. You have empowered me in moments of weakness and despair; You made a way where there seemed to be none. Your provisions have seen me through trials, and Your love has sustained me often when I felt I could go no further.
Yet, in this moment, I find myself facing my own thirst—thirst for clarity, thirst for strength, and a thirst that sometimes feels unquenchable. Lord, I come before You to lay my burdens at Your feet. Your word assures us that when we seek You with our whole heart, we will find You. I seek You now, Lord, deeply and earnestly, asking that You would pour out Your living water upon my parched soul.
Just as Samson was concerned that his physical thirst would lead to his death, I submit to You that my thirst for life's truths can be overwhelming. I see circumstances around me that threaten to drown out Your voice. I feel the weight of responsibilities, the pressures of daily life, and the haunting fear of failure. In my weakness, I sometimes experience moments of doubt, when I am unsure of how to face the giants before me or how to avoid falling into the hands of those uncircumcised in faith or spirit.
Help me, O Lord, to remember the victories You have granted me. Help me to hold fast to the memories of Your provision during times of want and need. You have not left me desolate, nor will You abandon me now. You are my source, my provision, my hope. You can turn my desert into a fertile land; You can transform my scarcity into abundance.
I earnestly pray for a fresh infilling of Your Holy Spirit. Let Your living water flow through me, cleansing and renewing my spirit, giving me the strength to withstand any dry season. May I never forget that You are a God of abundance, who desires to pour out good gifts upon those who ask. I beseech You to quench my thirst with Your Word and grant me discernment to understand Your divine guidance in every situation I face.
As I call on You, remind me that my challenges are not without purpose. Strengthen my resolve to remain steadfast in the face of trials, emboldening me to trust in Your unfolding plan. Help me not to grumble or complain but rather to praise You, even when my thirst seems great.
Thank You, Lord, for hearing my plea. I trust that You are already working in my life, providing, sustaining, and preparing me for greater works ahead. May my life be a reflection of Your love and grace, a testimony of Your wondrous deeds. I love You, Lord, and I place my hope completely in You, for You are my sustainer, my life-giver, and my deliverance. In Your mighty name, I pray, Amen.
