As we contemplate the situation of Israel, we recognize the depth of their distress and the overwhelming odds that they faced. The children of Ammon, fierce and unrelenting in their aggression, crossed the river to impose fear, chaos, and suffering upon Your chosen people. It is a reminder, dear Lord, that though life may present formidable challenges, we can lean upon You for strength and solace in our own times of trouble.

Gracious God, as we stand before You, we acknowledge the very real enemies that oppress and besiege us today. It is not simply flesh and blood that we battle but the powers and principalities, the spiritual hosts of wickedness that strive to create division and despair.
