A Prayer of Confession and Restoration
"And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me." - Joshua 7:19

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, guided by the verse from Joshua 7:19, in which Joshua speaks to Achan, saying, "My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me." Lord, we recognize that in order to truly give You glory, we must be willing to bring our failures, our sins, and our hidden transgressions before You.
We bow our heads and humble our hearts, understanding that there is nothing we can hide from You. You see our every thought, every action, and every motive. As we reflect upon Achan’s story, we remember the consequences of hidden sin—not only in his life but for his family and the entire nation of Israel. You, Lord, desire truth in our inward being, and we confess that too often we have carried burdens that separate us from Your love and guidance.
Father, teach us, like Joshua, to seek You with sincerity and urgency. Help us to approach moments of confession not with fear, but with the hope of restoration. We ask You to stir our hearts, Father, and remind us of the importance of accountability within our communities. May we never be ashamed to address our shortcomings and acknowledge the areas where we have strayed from Your path.
O Lord, let us take a moment of silence to reflect, to pause, and to listen. What secrets do we hold that keep us from fully embracing Your glory? We ask that You shine Your light upon the corners of our hearts that we may not have the courage to confront.
In this space of vulnerability, we lift our hands and our hearts to You. We confess the times when we have been selfish, when we have put our needs above others, or when we have coveted what belongs to someone else. Forgive us for the moments when we have been quick to judge others while ignoring our own faults. Father, we acknowledge our weaknesses and ask You to help us relinquish our grip on these burdens. Help us to understand that confession is not a sign of defeat but an expression of our desire to be aligned with Your will and purpose.
Lord, there are instances when we have hidden our sins, thinking they are too shameful to bring forth. But today, we surrender those thoughts. We give You glory by admitting that we fall short, by voicing our struggles, and by seeking Your forgiveness. May our lives reflect Your grace and mercy as we embrace vulnerability in our relationship with You and with others.
Help us to learn from Achan’s downfall. May we recognize that our actions have consequences—not just for ourselves but for those around us. Lord, give us the strength to support one another in truth and love, so no one must face their struggles in silence.
As we release our confessions, Lord, we ask for a renewal of spirit. Restore our joy and let us feel the weight of guilt lift off our shoulders. May Your love abound in us, overflowing into every aspect of our lives. We thank You, dear God, for Your promise of forgiveness and for the cleansing power of Your blood that washes away every sin.
We commit to walking in the light of Your love, sharing our stories of transformation with others, and glorifying Your name in all that we do. Bless us with the courage to speak truthfully and the wisdom to know that confession leads to healing, that transparency breeds trust, and that sincerity in our hearts opens the door to deeper intimacy with You.
We pray this with thankful hearts, trusting in Your unending grace. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
