A Plea for Divine Presence and Understanding

"Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee." - Job 13:20

"Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee." - Job 13:{verse.verse_number}

O Eternal and Almighty God,

I come before You today with a humble heart, seeking Your presence and guidance in my life Lord. As I meditate on the words of Job 13:20, I find profound truth in the plea, "Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee." With these words, Job laid bare the depth of his anguish, pleading with You to spare him from the weight of unbearable trials and the silence that feels like abandonment.

Lord, I acknowledge that life is fraught with challenges and afflictions. I recognize that even the most faithful servants may wander through the valleys of darkness, grappling with their pain, perplexities, and questions. Just as Job longed for a direct encounter with You, I too yearn for Your unwavering presence in my life. Father, I pray that You would maintain a steady hand in the storms around me and within me, keeping my heart anchored in Your unfailing love.

O Lord, I ask of You to protect me from that which might cause me to be distant from You. First, please do not withdraw Your spirit from my soul. In moments of despair and sorrow, when I feel the weight of loneliness or the gnawing pain of loss, remind me, O Lord, that You are my stronghold and refuge. Grant me the grace to seek You relentlessly, without faltering or retreating into the shadows of doubt. Your Word assures us that You are always near, a very present help in trouble. Please let me feel this truth in my lifetimes of uncertainty and grief.

Father, I also implore You not to abandon me to the consequences of my own actions. In my human frailty, it is all too easy to stray from Your path, to succumb to the desires of the flesh, and to seek solace in fleeting pleasures. Yet I know, within those moments of indulgence, I may lose sight of Your greater plan for my life. Grant me the wisdom and discernment, O Lord, to recognize the choices that lead me closer to You and help me resist the temptations that would drive a wedge between our relationship. Guide me toward righteousness and lead me in paths of holiness, for I desire to walk in step with You.

As I face the trials of this world, O God, keep my heart tender and my spirit willing to accept Your molding and shaping. Teach me to embrace suffering as an avenue towards greater intimacy with You. Help me to see that sometimes, it is in the furnace of affliction that my faith is kindled anew, and my character is refined. May I, like Job, not hide from You but rather run to You, laying bare my struggles, knowing You are faithful to hear me.

Lord, I long for the comforting touch of Your hand and the assurance that You are with me even in the midst of turbulence. Draw near to me, O God, as I seek to draw near to You. Eliminate any barriers that may hinder my relationship with You, and cultivate an unshakeable faith that perseveres, regardless of my circumstances.

I recognize that life will not always make sense, and the sufferings may sometimes seem insurmountable. Yet I cling to the promise that You will never leave me nor forsake me. Teach me to trust You fully, Lord, even in the unknowns, so that I may boldly proclaim my faith rather than retreating into silence.

In the name of Jesus Christ, I bring this prayer before You, confident in Your abiding presence and devoted love. May I always seek You first, with a heart that never turns away, resilient in faith and continually filled with Your Spirit, as I await Your counsel through the silence. Amen.
