A Prayer for Humility and Divine Protection

"And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest." - Jeremiah 45:5

"And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest." - Jeremiah 45:{verse.verse_number}

O Lord of Hosts,

As I kneel before You, I am reminded of the humbling words found in Jeremiah 45:5, where it is written, "And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest." Truly, Your thoughts are higher than my thoughts, and Your ways are beyond my understanding.

Heavenly Father, I come before You in recognition of my own frailty and the fleeting nature of worldly aspirations. I confess that often, I have sought after great things—success, recognition, wealth—and allowed these desires to cloud my perspective on what is truly important in life. Forgive me, Lord, for the times I have prioritized my ambitions over Your will. Help me to remember that You are the sovereign ruler of the universe, and my true significance does not lie in earthly accolades, but in my relationship with You.

In a world that clamors for attention and glorifies those who seek greatness, grant me the wisdom to turn my focus inward, to seek humility and servanthood. I know from Your Word that those who exalt themselves shall be humbled, and I do not wish to pursue paths that lead away from Your purpose for my life.

Lord, I earnestly pray for a heart that desires to serve rather than be served, one that grasps the virtue found in meekness and humility. Let not my ego grow to monstrous proportions, overshadowing Your grace and mercy. Help me to see that my value lies in my identity as Your beloved child, and not in the accolades I might gather along the way.

I hold close the promise found in the latter part of Jeremiah 45:5 that says, "but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest." What a beautiful assurance this is, that even amidst chaos, You are my protector and provider. I pause now to express my gratitude for Your unfailing love and protection. Even when dark clouds loom overhead, I cling to the promise that You are with me, guiding my every step. You see what lies ahead accurately, while I often view life through a fog of uncertainty.

Loving Father, as I walk through the valleys and over the mountains of life, may Your presence be a constant source of comfort and strength. May Your guiding hand shield me from the evils that beset me, and may I take refuge in the truth that my life is safe in Your embrace. Let Your peace envelop me wherever I go, so that I may reflect the light of Your grace to those around me.

I ask, Lord, that as I navigate my journey, I may be a beacon of hope and love to others. Help me to see their needs before my own and to value the community around me. When moments arise that challenge my faith, remind me of this promise—that my life is a gift from You. Whatever battles I may face, You have already declared victory over them, and in that victory, I am called to remain steadfast and vigilant.

As I surrender my ambitions, I trust that You will lead me in the path You have set before me. I know that trusting in You delivers the greatest blessings. May I find my richness not in what I possess, but in the love I share and the lives I touch.

Thank You, Lord, for Your wisdom, Your love, and for the precious gift of life itself. Help me to seek not the great things of this world, but rather a closer walk with You. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
