A Prayer for Listening to God's Word and Following His Will
"¶ Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying," - Jeremiah 44:20

Heavenly Father,
As we come before You in prayer today, we humbly reflect on the words of Your prophet Jeremiah, who spoke so earnestly to Your people. In Jeremiah 44:20, it was with a heavy heart that Jeremiah addressed not only the leaders but all the men and women, expressing the depth of Your message. Lord, we recognize that You speak to all of us, regardless of our position or status. In these tumultuous times, we gather together in unity, seeking Your guidance and understanding.
O God, we ask for a heart that is receptive to Your word, just as Jeremiah stood before the people, delivering Your truth. Let Your Holy Spirit awaken in us a desire to seek Your voice in the cacophony of this world. May we have the same boldness Jeremiah exhibited as he addressed those around him! Inspire us to listen and reflect on what You say rather than cling to our own voices.
Lord, let our ears be open to hear Your instructions—clear and poignant reminders of Your love, Your righteousness, and the path You have laid before us. We are reminded in Your Word that those who have a heart that seeks You will always find You. Help us to not only listen to Your words but also to embrace them with joy and willingness, surrendering our will for Yours.
Forgive us, Lord, for the times we have allowed doubt and fear to overtake us. Forgive us for being hearers of the word but not doers. As Jeremiah stood before the people, he was met with resistance; still, he was faithful. Grant us the strength and courage to stand firm in our faith even when we face adversity for adhering to Your teachings. May we, like Jeremiah, be less concerned about worldly acceptance and more attuned to Your will, actively living out our faith with integrity and conviction.
We acknowledge that sometimes we may struggle to understand the depth of what You ask of us, just like those who heard Jeremiah’s message. In those moments, help us to seek clarification from You diligently in prayer and meditation. Remind us that sometimes Your plans may lead us down difficult paths, but Your purpose is always good and aligns perfectly with Your love for us. Help us to trust the process as we lean on You for understanding.
As we pray for ourselves, we also lift to You, Lord, those in our communities, our families, and the world who may be wrestling with the choice to follow Your ways. May they feel the weight of Your presence and catch a glimpse of the hope that comes from living according to Your truth. We pray for open hearts, able to recognize their need for change and willing to embrace the transformation You offer through Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Lastly, Father, ignite within us a passion to share Your message just as Jeremiah did. May we be bearers of good tidings, speaking Your promises of love and salvation to those who are lost and weary. Let our lives reflect the light of Your word, drawing others closer to You in their search for hope, purpose, and belonging.
As we conclude this prayer, we surrender our hearts to You, reminding ourselves to be diligent listeners, faithful followers, and courageous witnesses of Your truth. We ask for the strength to carry out Your will, much like those who answered Jeremiah in pursuit of understanding. We seek Your guidance in all things, implanting Your words within us, that we may fulfill our destinies as calls of Your name.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen.
