Divine Protection and Deliverance: A Prayer Inspired by Jeremiah 36:26
"But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them." - Jeremiah 36:26

O Sovereign Lord, Creator of heaven and earth, we come before You today with hearts humbled in Your presence. We lift our voices to You, the Ancient of Days, the Almighty One who commands legions of angels and holds the fate of nations in Your hands. Your wisdom is unsearchable, and Your ways are past finding out. We bless Your holy name and acknowledge Your faithfulness that endures from generation to generation.
As we ponder upon the words of Jeremiah 36:26 — "But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them" — we are reminded of the times when Your servants faced persecution and danger for proclaiming Your truth. We are reminded of Baruch and Jeremiah, who remained steadfast in their calling, despite the threats that loomed around them.
Dear Lord, we thank You for Your divine protection that shields Your prophets and chosen ones from harm. Just as You hid Jeremiah and Baruch, we pray for Your sheltering wings to enfold us and our loved ones. In our trials and tribulations, help us to take refuge under Your vast canopy of grace. For it is You who directs our paths and defends us against those who would seek to harm us. We plead for Your guidance during times of uncertainty, that we may find solace and strength in Your presence.
Lord, we live in a world filled with voices that stray from Your truth and ideologies that threaten our faith. In this modern age, may our hearts remain anchored in Your Word, just as Baruch transcribed the messages You gave him through Jeremiah. Grant us the tenacity to stand firm, even when the world presses against us to compromise our beliefs. Let us echo Your truth in a world that desperately needs to hear it.
Father, we are aware that with every proclamation of truth, there comes a cost. Just as ancient prophets faced kings and rulers who desired to silence their voices, we too face challenges from others who stand against Your will. We pray for courage like Jeremiah, and that we may respond to adversity not with fear but with an unwavering faith in Your plans. Help us to remember that when we speak Your truth, You are there, fighting for us and defending us, just as You defended Baruch and Jeremiah.
Lord, we also come praying for those who wield power in our world today. We ask that You give them hearts that are receptive to Your wisdom. May their actions be guided by righteousness and justice. Let Your truth sink into their hearts, leading them away from wickedness. In doing so, may they encounter You, find redemption, and lead their nations accordingly.
As we meditate on Jeremiah’s experiences, we pray for the prophets in this generation — those who declare Your Word, those who intercede for nations, and those who bear the burdens of others. Shield them, O Lord, from harm and fear. May they feel Your presence close by, eternally guiding them as they proclaim Your Gospel. Lord, hide them from evil plots and malevolent schemes, just as You hid Jeremiah and Baruch, so that their voices may continue to rise and reverberate through the lands bringing hope and restoration.
In our plea, we commit ourselves and those we cherish into Your hands, knowing full well that those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. We declare our complete surrender to Your will, and trust that no harm may befall us beyond Your ordained purpose. Thank You, Lord, for Your everlasting love, for Your hidden ones, and for the victory that is found in You.
In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
