Almighty and Everlasting God,

We come before You in humble worship and reverence. You are the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the One who guides the course of history and knows each nation and its people intimately. Today, we reflect upon Your Word, as spoken through the prophet Jeremiah, ‘Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth’ (Jeremiah 25:32).

Lord, as we meditate on this profound declaration, we recognize that in this world, filled with both light and darkness, You have foreseen the impending trials and tribulations that turmoil brings upon nations and communities. We see conflict arising, oppression intensifying, and moral decay spreading, which leaves us in a state of unease. We acknowledge that we live in tumultuous times where nations rise against nations, and the fabric of peace seems strained, like a thread about to snap.

In such a moment of uncertainty, we seek Your divine protection and guidance. As we reflect on the whirlwind You have foretold, we plead with You to provide shelter to those vulnerable from the chaos. We ask for Your mercy upon those who endure strife and suffering. Protect the innocent, shield the helpless, and guard the hearts of the weary. We pray for the victims of injustice and hatred; that they would know Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Lord, please bring conviction to the hearts of leaders and nations. May they recognize their responsibility to uphold justice, pursue peace, and act with integrity. We pray that they would be filled with Your wisdom as they navigate difficult political landscapes. Help them to recognize that their power and authority is a divine gift meant to serve and protect, not to exploit or enslave.

As we face potential calamities arising from across the earth, we ask that You, O Lord of hosts, would move powerfully amongst the nations. Bind the forces of evil that seek to wreak havoc upon society. Silence the voice of hatred and division that tramples upon the hope for unity. May Your love and grace be the prevailing force that triumphs over every evil intent. We invoke Your Spirit to penetrate the hearts of those in power, turning their eyes towards compassion and away from pride.

We sorrowfully acknowledge the way in which sin has permeated society, often leading to the suffering we witness today. Forgive us, Lord, for we, too, are sometimes caught up in the whirlwind of anger, resentment, and the desire for revenge. Help us to be instruments of peace and bearers of Your light in times of darkness. Inspire us to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with You (Micah 6:8).

In these times of uncertainty, help us hold steadfast to our faith. May Your Word be a lamp unto our feet (Psalm 119:105) as we navigate the dangers that lie ahead. Instill in us the courage and strength to stand firm against the waves, to maintain our position as Your ambassadors of hope, even when fear may seek to overwhelm.

We trust in Your sovereignty, dear God, knowing that you are our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). As nations rise and fall, we affirm that You remain unshaken and unmovable. May Your peace reign in our hearts and in our nations, as we wait on You to act according to Your great plan, and we look forward with hope, knowing that evil will not have the final word.
