A Prayer for Cleansing and Commissioning

"Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:" - Isaiah 6:6

"Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:" - Isaiah 6:{verse.verse_number}

O Holy and Sovereign Lord, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, I come before You in reverence, my heart echoing the words of Isaiah, who beheld Your glory in that sacred moment. Just as the seraphim were sent to touch his lips with a burning coal taken from the altar, so too, I beseech You to send Your spirit to cleanse and prepare me for the work ahead.

In Isaiah 6:6, we read, "Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar." Lord, I rest in the understanding that the coal represents purification, that which is transformed by Your holy fire. As I reflect on this scripture, I recognize my own unworthiness and the weight of sin that so easily entangles. How often have I faltered and failed to remain in the purity of Your presence.

I repent, O God, of my iniquities and shortcomings that separate me from Your holiness. I acknowledge my faults and plead with You to cleanse me as the seraphim touched Isaiah’s lips with the holy coal. Purify my heart and spirit, dear Lord, that I may rise above the mire of my own making. Let Your refining fire work in me, burning away the dross so that only that which is righteous and true may stand in its place. Shower me with Your grace and mercy, for in the depths of my soul, I long to be made whole.

Father, as I seek this cleansing, I humbly ask that You would also prepare me for Your service. Just as Isaiah’s lips were touched and made clean so that he could proclaim Your message to the nations, I, too, desire to be Your vessel. Equip me, Father, to be a bearer of Your truth. Empower me to speak boldly, to share Your love, and to carry forth the commission You have for my life.

May Your Holy Spirit breathe upon me, igniting a passion for Your Word and a fervor for Your works. Like those seraphim that flew before Your throne, let me soar into the calling You have placed upon my heart. Establish my steps, O Lord, as I walk upon the path You’ve laid out for me. Help me to align my thoughts and actions with Your will, so that I may be a shining light in this dark world.

Gracious God, teach me to hear Your voice in the whispers of my heart and in the callings of my everyday life. When distractions arise, help me to remain steadfast. Instill within me a sense of urgency to seek the lost and to draw others towards Your magnificent grace. Let my life be a testimony of Your redemptive power, for I know that it is only by grace that I have been saved, and by faith, that I stand firm.

Lord, I thank You for the sacrifice made on the altar of the cross, where ultimate cleansing was attained for all mankind. Let me never take that for granted. Help me to remember the weight of that grace, and let that memory propel me into action, reflecting Your love and light in all I do.

As Isaiah was willing to say, "Here am I; send me," I offer my life to You, Lord. Send me into the world to share Your message of hope, healing, and renewal. May my actions glorify Your name and draw others closer to You.

I entrust this prayer in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
