A Prayer for Wisdom and Deliverance from False Counsel
"Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee." - Isaiah 47:13

Heavenly Father, our Sovereign and Eternal King, we come before You today, humbled by the weight of Your truth and the depth of Your wisdom. We seek Your presence in our lives, acknowledging that You are the Creator of all, whose understanding is beyond measure. As we meditate on Isaiah 47:13, ‘Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee,’ we are reminded of the futility of relying on human wisdom and the counsel of this world apart from You.
Lord, it is all too easy for us to become entangled in the myriad voices that seek our attention. The clamor of the world pulls us toward its beliefs, its practices, and its ideologies, much like the astrologers and stargazers of old who proffered predictions without the foundation of Your divine truth. We confess that at times, we, too, have been wearied by the multitude of worldly counsel, seeking answers in places where there is only uncertainty.
Father, help us to discern where our help truly comes from. Allow us to seek Your guidance in the depths of our hearts rather than relying on the fleeting knowledge of those who do not know You. We thank You for the gift of Your Word, which stands as a beacon of hope and guidance amid the chaos of this world. Please remind us that wisdom is found in reverence for You, our Creator and Provider. May we turn away from the distractions that wear us down, and instead, anchor ourselves firmly in the promises of Your Scripture.
In this prayer, we seek Your forgiveness for moments we have betrayed our trust in You by turning to and depending upon the counsel of astrologers and soothsayers. Forgive us for neglecting Your voice in favor of the seductive whispers of those who claim foresight but lack Your divine insight. Teach us, O God, that true wisdom begins with a fear of You, a concept that is lost on those who chase after the stars for guidance.
Lord, grant us the courage to stand firm in our faith amid the barrage of worldly advice. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, comforting us as we seek Your counsel in moments of uncertainty. Inspire us to draw closer to You in prayer, knowing that Your insights are far superior to any so-called wisdom this world can offer.
As we confront the uncertainties of life, we call upon Your name, believing that only You have the power to save us from the perils that loom ahead. The world may mock our reliance on You, but we find strength in the assurance that Your plans for us are good and filled with hope.
Help us to develop a relationship with You that goes beyond mere acknowledgment. Teach us to seek Your counsel in all aspects of our lives—our decisions, our relationships, our work, and our service to others. Grant us patience, Lord. Help us to wait for Your perfect timing and will instead of rushing to consult others who may not have our best interests at heart.
May our ears be attuned to Your voice so that when we face the challenges of life, we will turn to You first, resting in the knowledge that You are our refuge in times of trouble. You alone can save us from the snares laid before us, and we trust in Your providence to lead us through the darkest valleys into the light of Your presence.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust that You will guide us toward true wisdom and protection as we seek to live according to Your will. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
