A Prayer for Wisdom and Protection Against Desolation
"¶ Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know." - Isaiah 47:11

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with trembling hearts and open minds, seeking Your guidance and protection. As we reflect on the solemn words of Isaiah 47:11, "Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know," we stand in awe of Your power and majesty, and we recognize the weight of sin and rebellion that can draw us away from Your blessings.
Lord, we acknowledge that the consequences of straying from Your ways can lead to unforeseen troubles. We ask for Your mercy upon our lives, and we plead for wisdom. Help us to discern the times we live in; grant us the ability to recognize the dangers that lurk around us, often hidden from our view. Your Word reminds us that evil can come upon us unexpectedly, and we do not want to be caught unprepared or unaware. Lord, guide us in all our decisions so that we may walk firmly in Your light, avoiding the dark paths that lead to destruction.
Father, we pray against the mischief that seeks to entrap us. The evil one is always prowling, trying to lead us astray. Help us to keep our hearts pure and our minds renewed. May we wear the full armor of God, as described in Ephesians 6, to stand firm against the temptations and trials that may come our way. When we feel the pressure of the world around us, remind us of Your truth and the promises You have made to us in Your Word. May we find our refuge in You, our stronghold, and our salvation.
We ask for Your protective hand, God. Shield us from desolation, both personal and societal. In a world fraught with uncertainty, we seek Your peace to permeate our hearts. When troubles come, and we feel overwhelmed, remind us that we can lean on You in our time of need. Help us to remember that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts higher than our thoughts. When we face trials, give us the strength to endure, knowing that You are working all things together for good for those who love You.
Lord, we confess our shortcomings before You. We acknowledge the times we have disregarded Your wisdom and leaned on our understanding. For the moments we have turned a blind eye to iniquity, we seek Your forgiveness. Cleanse our hearts and renew a right spirit within us. May we be vigilant and watchful, never taking lightly the work of the enemy. Help us to cultivate a spirit of discernment that can see through the folly and deceit that leads to ruin.
As we strive for righteousness, remind us also to reach out to those ensnared in the traps of mischief and desolation. Let our lives be beacons of hope and love, guiding others toward the safety found in Your embrace. Equip us to share the good news of salvation with those who are lost. Strengthen our resolve to manifest Your love in a world that is often void of grace.
Lastly, dear Lord, we pray for the peace of our communities and our nation. May Your will be done, and may we see a return to righteousness that upholds justice and mercy. Shield us from the evil that runs rampant in our society, and let our hearts be turned toward You. May we stand united in prayer, seeking Your face, and turning from our wicked ways, trusting in Your promise that if we do, You will hear from heaven and heal our land.
In Your Holy Name we pray, Amen.
