A Prayer for Trust in the Lord
"Sure. Here is the verse Isaiah 31:1-2 in the King James Version (KJV): Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord! Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity." - Isaiah 31:1-2

O Holy One of Israel,
We come before You with humble hearts, recognizing our dependence on Your strength and wisdom. In Isaiah 31:1-2, You admonish us, saying, "Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!" Lord, we confess that there are times when we, too, have sought refuge in the things of this world rather than turning to You. We have put our trust in our own understanding, in the might and resources of others, and in the transient comforts that surround us.
Forgive us, O Lord, for our tendency to rely on human strength and strategies for our deliverance. We live in a world that often values power, wealth, and influence over faith, obedience, and a heart tuned to Your voice. Help us to discern the ways we may be tempted to look towards Egypt—in our relationships, finances, health, and all areas of life—seeking support from that which is merely a shadow of Your true power. Teach us to identify the moments when we are drawn into the allure of security that the world offers, while neglecting the peace and guidance only You can provide.
Your Word reminds us that “Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.” You are a God of justice, and Your wisdom exceeds our understanding. We often see wickedness prospering and might appearing to thrive, yet we are comforted in knowing that they will not stand forever. Lord, give us the courage to remain steadfast in our faith, even when the odds seem stacked against us, and the temptation to conform to the ways of the world is strong.
We ask for Your wisdom to navigate the challenges we face, to recognize how we might unknowingly partner with iniquity, or fall into the trap of placing our hope in fleeting supports rather than in You. May we be vigilant and discerning, allowing Your Holy Spirit to guide our thoughts and actions so that we might align ourselves with Your will. Help us to seek You earnestly in prayer, understanding that the greatest resource we have is not in chariots or horsemen, but in our relationship with You, Almighty God.
Remind us, O Lord, of the many times You have delivered Your people, not through military strength or overwhelming might, but through faith, obedience, and the very real presence of Your power at work. Help us to internalize the truth that true strength lies in surrendering our will to Yours, trusting that You shall rise on behalf of those who love You and call upon Your Name.
As we move forward in our lives, may we choose to stand firm in our faith and reliance on You, rather than seeking out what seems expedient or secure. May we open our eyes to see how You are moving and working on our behalf even when circumstances suggest otherwise.
Lord, I pray for a revival of faith in our hearts, a turning back to You as our first and only source of assistance. Whatever battles we are facing—be they internal struggles, relationships, financial issues, or personal challenges—may we approach You earnestly, putting our trust in You above all else.
Guide us, strengthen us, and empower us, O Holy One of Israel. We lift up this prayer in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.

Isaiah 31:1-2 - "Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the Lord. Yet he too is wise and can bring disaster; he does not take back his words. He will rise up against that wicked nation, against those who help evildoers."
