A Prayer for Deliverance from False Counsel
"And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards." - Isaiah 19:3

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with humble hearts, recognizing Your sovereignty and power over all creation. As we reflect on Isaiah 19:3, which states, "And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards," we seek Your guidance and understanding in navigating the spiritual battles that so often surround us.
Lord, just as You prophesied the downfall of Egypt, a nation steeped in idolatry and reliance on false counsel, so we too face similar temptations in our lives today. We witness a world overflowing with distractions, voices that lead us away from Your truth, and a society that often turns to worldly sources for wisdom that is fleeting and ultimately destructive. We pray that You would open our eyes and ears to recognize where these false counsels attempt to infiltrate our thoughts, our lives, and our churches.
Father, we acknowledge our human inclination to seek answers in the wrong places. Just as the Egyptians sought after idols and familiar spirits, we too sometimes look to our own understanding rather than Your Word. Forgive us for the moments when we rely on our reasoning before we turn to You in prayer and supplication. Help us to remember that true wisdom comes from You alone, and that we should not lean on our own understanding but trust in Your divine guidance.
In a time when many seek to fulfill their desires through charms, divination, and all manners of enchantment, we beseech You, Lord, to help us to be steadfast in our faith. Strengthen our resolve to turn away from the allure of these practices which lead to emptiness. May we find our fulfillment in You, turning our hearts and minds solely to Your Word and the wisdom it provides. We pray that we would strive to cultivate a deep relationship with You, seeking Your guidance through prayer, meditation, and the study of Your Scriptures.
Lord, we are also mindful of those around us who are ensnared by these traps—family members, friends, and even leaders who may have turned to the false counsel of the world. We intercede on their behalf, asking that You break the chains of deception that bind them. Dispatch Your angels, Lord, to shine light in dark places, and may they encounter Your truth in profound ways that draw them back to You.
As we witness unrest in our communities and divisions among our people, we pray for unity. Help us to be voices of hope and truth, guiding those who are lost back to the foundation of Your Word. We ask for discernment, Father, that we may clearly see the influences that seek to lead us astray. Grant us the wisdom to counsel others in a way that reflects Your love and truth, rather than the distractive and misleading ways of the flesh.
In closing, we claim the promise that You desire for us to be free from the spirit of confusion and chaos, just as You brought down the pride of Egypt. Reassure us, Father, that just as You lifted Israel out of their bondage, You are prepared to lift us, too, from the snares of sin and falsehood. Help us to remain steadfast, trusting wholly in Your perfect counsel.
We ask these things in the mighty name of Jesus, who is our Counselor, our guide, and our everlasting light.
Amen.
