A Prayer for Shaken Foundations and Restored Strength
"In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it." - Isaiah 19:16

O Lord God of Hosts,
As I come before You today, I am reminded of the profound truth in Isaiah 19:16, where it is written, "In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it." Father, I stand in awe of Your mighty power and Your ability to shake the very foundations of the earth. I acknowledge the divine authority that You hold over all nations and people, and I humbly ask that You open my eyes to grasp the depth of this reality.
Lord, Your Word paints a picture of Egypt, a nation proud in its might and once considered powerful, now portrayed in fear and vulnerability. Just as You brought low a proud nation, I pray for those in our world today who find their security in worldly might. May they be reminded that without You, they stand on shaky ground. In a time when strength is often equated with power and control, I recognize the paradox that Your true strength often comes through humility and vulnerability.
I pray especially for our communities, our nations, and indeed the world, that they may experience their own ‘day’ of realization. May those who believe they stand strong against the waves of adversity be met with the tremors of Your presence, shaking them awake to their need for You. O Lord, let the fear of the shaking hand of the LORD of hosts strike the hearts of those who exalt themselves above You. Take away their confidence in their armies, their economies, and their wisdom, and replace it with a holy fear that points them towards repentance and reconciliation.
Mighty God, You know that there are many today who feel as though they are on the verge of collapse, like Egypt of old—shaken by circumstances and fears. Lord, I lift up those who feel the tremors of doubt and anxiety, both within and around them. I pray that they would not be consumed by fear but would instead find refuge in You. Teach us, O Lord, to rely on Your everlasting arms. Help us to embrace our vulnerability, acknowledging that it is in our weaknesses that Your strength is made perfect.
I also ask for the leaders of this world. They, too, need Your divine intervention. Help them to recognize their limitations and the folly of prideful ambitions. May their hearts tremor at the thought of leading without Your guidance. May they seek wisdom from above and turn to You in their decision-making—not relying on mere human understanding but recognizing Your desire for truth, justice, and mercy.
Father, we understand that a shaking is sometimes necessary for the establishment of a stronger foundation. As You shake our hearts, our homes, our nations, and even our churches, I pray that we may emerge renewed and strengthened in faith. Fill us with courage to stand in the gap for one another, to support those who are fearful, and to proclaim the truth of Your love and grace amidst every storm.
In this time of uncertainty, Lord, cultivate within us a spirit of steadfastness. May we be unafraid to confess our need for You, to acknowledge our vulnerabilities as we cry out to You for help. Lord, in our collective fear, may there be an awakening of faith. Let the trembling of our hearts lead us closer to Your heart. May we remember that while we may be like Egypt, afraid and shaken, we have a Savior who calms the storms, who fortifies the weak, and who brings hope to the hopeless.
Thank You, Lord, for being the rock upon which we can stand, even when everything else is in turmoil. I trust in Your ever-present help, and I rejoice in the promise that You have great plans for us, plans for peace and restoration.
In Jesus' name, I pray,
Amen.
