We have loved a reward upon every cornfloor—the bounty and abundance that this world offers, rather than seeking the eternal riches that come from being in right standing with You.
Lord, we recognize the ache within our hearts that comes from chasing after vanities that ultimately lead to emptiness. Your Word tells us to not rejoice as others do, for our joy is different—it is rooted in the assurance of Your promises. It is a joy that withstands trials, that endures in the face of adversity. Open our eyes, O God, to the truth that the joy the world offers is temporary, and that true happiness flows from knowing and being known by You.
As we sit in the quietness of Your presence, we pray that You would restore us. Draw us back into a deep and intimate relationship with You. Teach us to cherish the love that can only be found in You and to revel in the truth that You are our God, our refuge, and our source of hope. We long to find joy that does not require the accolade of man but is anchored in Your truth.
Help us to see beyond the cornfloor, beyond the temporary rewards, and to fix our eyes on the abundant life that You promise to those who abide in You. We desire to rejoice in the midst of life’s storms, knowing that in this world we will have tribulation, but You, Jesus, have overcome the world.
May we not be like the Israelites, bound in cycles of disobedience and chasing after idolatry, but instead, let us be a people set apart, dedicated to Your will and purpose. Fill our hearts with a desire to worship You in spirit and truth, to value the things that last for eternity.
As we go forth from this place of prayer, may our lives be a testimony of Your grace and forgiveness, marked by the joy that comes from obedience to Your Word and loving You above all else. We thank You for Your unfailing love and for calling us back when we stray. We celebrate the hope of redemption found in Christ, and we trust in Your perfect plan for our lives.
