A Prayer for Justice and Righteousness Before the Almighty Judge
"That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?" - Genesis 18:25

O Sovereign Lord, the Creator of heaven and earth, we humbly come before Thy throne of grace, acknowledging Thy sovereignty and holiness. As we reflect on the profound truth contained in the words of Genesis 18:25, we are reminded of Thy nature as the ultimate Judge who reigns with justice and righteousness.
"That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?" These words of affirmation remind us of the foundation of our faith; that You, O Lord, cannot act contrary to Your own divine nature.
O Mighty God, we lift our voices to You, imploring Your justice in a world where the distinction between good and evil often fades. Your ways are unmatchable, and Your thoughts are higher than our thoughts. Therefore, we beseech You to manifest Your righteousness in our lives, in our communities, and throughout the world. We cry out for mercy upon the righteous, those who walk in faith and integrity, and we plead with You to shield them from the wickedness that proliferates around them.
Lord, we acknowledge that we live in precarious times—where sin seems to prosper and corruption is rampant. Yet, we take comfort in knowing that You see all, You hear all, and most importantly, You will act in accordance with Your justice. We are reminded of the story of Abraham who, in humble dialogue with You, questioned the fate of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. He appealed to Your character, crying out for the lives of the righteous, knowing that a just God could not allow the innocent to perish alongside the guilty.
We echo his heart's cry, dear God. For in our own nation and indeed in the nations of the world, we witness injustices that often leave our souls heavy with grief. How can it be, Lord, that the good suffer while the wicked seem to thrive? Yet, we rest assured in the promise—that You, the Judge of all the earth, will always do what is right. Help us, O Lord, to trust in that truth even when we cannot see the outcome.
As Your children, we yearn for a return to righteousness. We pray for a revival of integrity among leaders and decision-makers. We ask that Your Holy Spirit imbue us with courage, wisdom, and discernment so we might influence others towards good. We seek the strength to stand firm in the face of adversity and to speak out on behalf of those who are marginalized and oppressed.
Lord, we confess the times we have faltered—when we have turned a blind eye to injustice or failed to act in alignment with Your commands. We repent for the complacency that sometimes dwells in our hearts, for the moments when fear has silenced us, and for the instances where we have allowed the righteous to suffer unduly.
May we be empowered by a holy zeal to become champions for justice. Let our hearts beat in rhythm with Yours, O God, so that we may reflect Your righteousness in every aspect of our lives. Grant us the fortitude to voice our concerns and stand for the truth, knowing that we are called to be salt and light in this world.
Finally, Lord, as we anticipate the final judgment where all will stand before You, let our lives be a testament to Your righteous ways. We cling to the hope that You will right every wrong and reconcile all that is broken. Until that glorious day, we rest in Your promise that You will protect and deliver the righteous.
In the merciful name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and King, we pray. Amen.
