A Prayer at the Well of Life
"Wherefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered." - Genesis 16:14

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today in humble reverence, I am reminded of the well called Beer-lahai-roi, a place of vision, provision, and encounter. In Genesis 16:14, we learn of the significance of this well, which was a divine marker in the life of Hagar, a woman who found herself lost and alone in her struggles. You saw her plight, and You provided for her in a moment of desperation. "Wherefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered."
Lord, I thank You for being the God who sees us, just as You saw Hagar in the wilderness. You are the El Roi, the God who sees; You see every tear that falls, every heartache that weighs us down, and every struggle that feels insurmountable. I come to this well, symbolic of refreshment and revelation, seeking Your living waters to drown my fears and doubts. May Your presence fill the dry and weary places of my heart.
Father, like Hagar, there are times when I wander in life’s wilderness, caught between my Kadesh—a place of holiness—and Bered, a place that may represent adversity or conflict in my journey. I beseech You, Lord, to guide me as I traverse this landscape of emotions and decisions. Help me to find my own Beer-lahai-roi, where I can drink deep of Your mercy and grace, and know that You hear me in my turmoil.
In Your infinite wisdom, You are aware of the complexities of my life, the crossroads that every decision brings. I pray for clarity and the strength to move forward with courage. Remind me that where I feel most desolate is often where Your grace can be revealed most profoundly. Let the waters of this well cleanse me of anxiety and doubt, and let them sustain me as I seek to fulfill Your purpose for my life.
Lord, I reflect on the emotions Hagar must have felt—a mixture of despair, fear, and uncertainty. In this moment, I open my heart to You and share my own burdens. I lay before You my struggles and the questions that plague my mind. I ask for Your voice to speak over these concerns, to provide the comfort I so desperately seek, just as You did for the outcast Hagar at the well.
Grant me the faith to trust in Your provision, knowing that You will never abandon me in my time of need. As Hagar discovered the well, let me also discover new depths of understanding about Your love and faithfulness. I surrender my expectations to You, trusting that You have a plan that is far greater than my imagination can fathom.
May this well remind me that no situation is beyond redemption and that You are capable of bringing forth life even from the driest of places. I give You praise for the wells in my life that remind me of Your sustaining love, those moments of revelation that affirm Your constant presence on my journey.
Help me to be a vessel of hope for others who may find themselves in similar wilderness experiences. Let the knowledge of Beer-lahai-roi inspire me to share the Good News of Your sight and provision with the world—especially those who feel overlooked or abandoned.
As I leave this place of prayer, I carry with me the promise of refreshment at the well of life. Thank You, Lord, for always seeing me, for always being there in my times of need. May I forever be grateful for the wells You provide along my path.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen.
