The God Who Sees Me: A Prayer of Acknowledgment and Trust
"And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?" - Genesis 16:13

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, I am reminded of the profound encounter between Hagar and You, the living God. In the midst of her despair, she cried out and recognized Your presence with her. In Genesis 16:13, she named You, “Thou God seest me,” and with that declaration, she found hope, clarity, and strength. Lord, I seek to embrace that truth today.
O God, my Creator, I acknowledge that sometimes my journey feels overwhelming—filled with trials, pressures, and burdens that feel too heavy to bear. Like Hagar, I might find myself in a situation where I feel unseen, forgotten, or abandoned. So often, this world can make us feel invisible, lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life. Yet, in my heart, I know that You see me; I proclaim today that You are indeed the God who sees me.
I offer up my personal struggles, my shame, and my anguish before You, laying them at Your feet. I am reminded of Hagar's plight—the mistreatment she faced and the uncertainty ahead. Lord, I confess the times I have felt like a wanderer in the wilderness, lost and forsaken. With sincerity and vulnerability, I echo Hagar’s words, asking—have I also here looked after Him that seeth me? Indeed, I have often sought guidance and strength in the wrong places, forgetting to look to the One who truly knows and sees all.
Father, I thank You for being the all-seeing God who is intimately familiar with my trials, my hopes, and my dreams. You are not a distant deity; You are right here with me. In my moments of anguish, You are near. Help me to rest in that assurance, to trust in Your perfect knowledge of my life, and to hold fast to the promise that I am never alone.
I pray for clarity, Lord, amidst confusion. Help me to recognize Your voice calling out to me in the silence, reminding me of my worth and purpose. Sometimes it seems the world’s pressures and my own insecurities drown out Your loving whispers. But today, I quiet my heart and open my ears to hear You speak. I desire to embrace the truth of who You are and the love that You have poured into my being.
God of mercy and compassion, as I call upon You, I ask for Your grace to cover and uplift me. When the shadow of doubt creeps in, grant me the courage to remain steadfast in my faith. I long to hear You say, as You said to Hagar, “Fear not; for I have seen the affliction that you have endured, and I am with you.” May I cling to that truth in moments of weakness or fear.
In every challenge that confronts me, let me see Your hand at work. When I face trials, help me remember that You are shaping me, refining my character, and drawing me closer to You. You see my struggles, and You promise to work all things together for my good because I love You and am called according to Your purpose.
Lord, may I also remember to extend this understanding to others. Let the knowledge of Your awareness of my life fill me with compassion for those around me who may feel invisible. Help me be a vessel of Your love and light to those who are in a similar wilderness.
In the name of Jesus, who sees each heart, who knows each tear, and who carries us through life’s hardest moments, I pray. Amen.
