Crucified With Christ, Alive by His Indwelling Life

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." - Galatians 2:20

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." - Galatians 2:{verse.verse_number}

Father in heaven, I come before Thee in reverence and humility, thankful for Thy holy Word and for the grace that speaks through it. I hold close to my heart the testimony of Galatians 2:20, and I confess it before Thee as my hope and my desire: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Lord, let these words be more than a verse I recite—let them become the truth that governs my thoughts, my motives, my habits, and my whole life.

I acknowledge, O God, that my old nature resists surrender. There are parts of me that still cling to pride, to self-will, to the need to be seen, to the craving for comfort, and to the fear of losing control. Yet Thy Word declares, “I am crucified with Christ.” Teach me what it means to be joined with Christ in His death—so that the rule of sin is broken, so that self no longer sits upon the throne of my heart, and so that my past no longer defines my future. Grant me a holy willingness to let my old desires be put to death, and to accept the cross not as mere suffering, but as the pathway to freedom.

And Father, when I feel weak, when I feel as though surrender will leave me empty, remind me of the miracle that follows: “nevertheless I live.” Thank Thee that the life Thou givest is not a thin or fragile life, but a life rooted in the victory and resurrection power of Christ. Let my living be filled with Thy presence, guided by Thy wisdom, and strengthened by Thy Spirit. Help me to live with spiritual clarity, to see beyond the temporary, and to walk faithfully even in ordinary moments.

Lord Jesus, I confess that the center of this verse is not my effort but Thy indwelling: “yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.” Make Thy home in every part of my soul. Take the places I have kept closed—my hidden anxieties, my secret struggles, my unspoken wounds—and reign there with healing and truth. Let Thy patience become my patience, Thy purity become my pursuit, Thy compassion become my response, and Thy humility become my posture. Where I am harsh, soften me. Where I am double-minded, steady me. Where I am bitter, cleanse me. Where I am distracted, gather my heart again to Thee. Let it be evident to those around me that Christ liveth in me—not by words alone, but by a life that bears the marks of love, holiness, and peace.

Father, Thou knowest that I still live “in the flesh,” surrounded by pressures, temptations, responsibilities, and limitations. Teach me how to live faithfully in the everyday—at work, at home, in conversation, in decision-making, and in unseen choices. Thy Word says, “and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God.” Train my heart to rely upon faith rather than fear, obedience rather than impulse, truth rather than excuse. When I am tempted to trust myself, bring me back to trusting Thy Son. When I am tempted to despair, anchor me in Thy promises. When I am tempted to compromise, strengthen me to stand.

And Lord, I cannot pray this verse without bowing in wonder at the love that is named within it: “who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Let that love break the hardness of my heart. Let that love silence the accusation of guilt and the shame of failure. Let that love become my security when I feel unworthy and my courage when I feel afraid. Thank Thee that Christ did not merely advise me, but “gave himself for me.” Teach me to live as one who has been bought with a price, redeemed not by my merit, but by His sacrifice.

So I ask Thee, Father: form in me a crucified life and a resurrected walk. Let my identity be rooted in union with Christ. Let my mind be renewed, my desires purified, and my steps directed. Make me faithful in small things, steadfast in trials, and gentle toward others. Let my life proclaim, day by day, that I belong to Jesus Christ, and that my truest life is found in Him.

I yield myself to Thee again. Let it be “yet not I,” in my plans, my ambitions, my reactions, and my relationships. Let it be “but Christ,” in my words, my choices, my obedience, and my love. I pray in holy awe and gratitude, resting in the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Amen.
