A Prayer of Acknowledgment and Gratitude for Divine Mercy
"And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this;" - Ezra 9:13

O Lord God Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, I come before You today with a heart full of humility and reverence. As I reflect upon the weight of Ezra 9:13, I am overwhelmed by the truth of Your righteousness and the depths of Your mercy, which says: "And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this."
In these words, I recognize the profound reality of my own shortcomings and the transgressions which weigh heavily upon my soul. Lord, I confess before You that I have fallen short of Your glory. Like the ancient Israelites, I have strayed from Your path and committed actions that are displeasing in Your sight. My sins, Lord, are like a dark cloud that hangs over me and threatens to consume me. But I am reminded through this scripture that Your punishment, though deserved, is tempered with grace. You have not given me what my transgressions truly merit.
Father, I stand in awe of how You uphold justice while still extending mercy toward those You love. It is very easy for me to lose sight of my own failings when I look at the world around me. Yet, Your Word reminds me that it is by Your grace that I have not been utterly consumed, for Your compassion never fails. In Your mercy, You have provided for me; You have shielded me from the consequences that should have come upon me, and for that, I owe You my deepest gratitude.
As I contemplate the deliverances You have bestowed upon my life, I am filled with thankfulness. I see Your hand of mercy at work in my circumstances. You have lifted me up in times of despair, You have restored my soul during moments of loneliness, and You have provided provisions in my lack. Each act of kindness, each moment of comfort is a testament to Your unwavering love and faithfulness.
I also recognize, dear Lord, that Your deliverance is not only about what You have spared me from, but also about what You freely offer. You have freely given me the gift of repentance, drawing me to Yourself and inviting me back into Your loving embrace. You have enabled me to see the error of my ways and have softened my heart to seek reconciliation with You.
In light of this, I ask for Your strength to live a life that is worthy of the grace I have received. Help me to turn away from evil and to pursue righteousness with an earnest heart. May I never take lightly the deliverance that You have granted, but instead, let it inspire me to live in obedience and service to You. Teach me daily to walk in Your ways and to turn my heart toward acts of kindness and love toward others.
I pray that, like Ezra, I may continually acknowledge my sins and the sins of my people, standing in the gap with a heart of repentance, seeking Your face and interceding for those who are lost. Let my life be a testament to Your great mercy and let it shine as a beacon of hope for those around me, guiding them to the glory of Your Light.
Lord, as I conclude this prayer, I want to express profound gratitude for every ounce of mercy You have poured upon my life, for every opportunity to start anew. Thank You for punishing me less than my iniquities deserve, for upholding me, and for delivering me from the pits of despair. I embrace the magnitude of Your love today and ask that it inspire me to reflect that love toward others.
In Jesus' Holy Name, I pray,
Amen.
